Little Superstar

No, not Simbhu. That title this time belongs to King Kong, the pint-sized man who acted in a few Tamil movies a while back. I got an email from Daniel Freed, the producer of Current TV, a cable TV station in San Francisco, who said he was working on a piece about this video clip. That clip ofcourse is from Adhisaya Piravi and it, along with King Kong's dance moves, is apparently all the rage on YouTube. I told him what I knew and that information seems to have made it to the latest edition of Yahoo Video's Current Buzz.

First it was Tamil (and Vadivelu and his Imsai Arasan 23aam Pulikesi) on Google Current and now this... Tamil cinema's fame is certainly spreading...

It was even featured on the 'Countdown with Keith Olberman' show in MSNBC last night and thats when I came to know about it. Then, I saw the email from that guy - Daniel Freed- to Thalaivar yahoo groups too. But I really wonder what is there in the clip for it to become such a rage :)

the Current Buzz guy says that one of the names for little superstar is 'frog'. looks like he has been confused with Thavakkalai, of Mundhanai Mudichchu fame.

he's definitely not thavakkalai...thavakkalai also appeared in aann paavam, and he looks a lot different...
btw, anyone in here who saw kai vandha kalai and actually liked it? coz i know bb hated it...i watched the movie (sorry sandya, download thaan!) and kinda enjoyed it, esp. the saavu scene where prithvi plays a recorded message for the attendees!

Ram, oru tharava thappu paNNa, 'sorry' kaettaa okay.. but knowing that you are going to make the same mistake (crime! :-) over and over again, I grant you advanced forgiveness.. Please live it up and don't apologize again (and that too, to me! :-)

After all, don't we all know that you (like Balaji! :-) have a conscience 'this big' about watching dowloaded movies?! :-) ;-)

I wouldn't purposely mock or cause any further pain willingly or knowingly, especially considering guilt is already consuming you! :-)

I posted a comment last night.. somehow, didn't make it here.. but I felt really sad that people like King Kong are finally getting some recognition (even though some of you may think that it is not worthy!), but they have been non-entities all their lives.. this must be a big deal for them.

I saw him last in "My Dear Bhootham" on Sun TV. Don't know if he appears frequently on the show though!

Not related to the post. How about this video! Methinks this video provoked Veerappan to kidnap Dr.Rajkumar.

I am working for a London based independent production company called October Films. October Films is one of Britain's oldest and most renowned production companies, producing everything from serious and groundbreaking documentary programmes, to critically acclaimed factual entertainment productions. We are currently producing an entertainment format for a UK broadcaster celebrating the best and most popular video downloads from the internet over the last fifteen years. It is intended that the show will have a variety of clips, from a variety of genres and will include things that the public have filmed themselves.

I am trying to track down the details of a certain production company in India. Essentially there is a clip that has become very popular on the internet called ‘Little Superstar’ featuring a famous actor and choreographer called ‘Thavakalai’ (the film also starred ‘Rajnikanth’) that we would love to include in our show. The clip comes from a 1990 Tamil movie called ‘Adisaya Pirari’ which was part of the ‘Kollywood’ Madras movie industry. I am trying to track down the production company that made the film, which I believe is called ‘Lakshmi Productions’ so as we can get their permission to use the clip and also get hold of the original material if possible. I have looked for contact details for them but as yet cannot find any and wondered if you might have some details for them, or could point me in the right direction. Any help you could give
would be hugely appreciated. The link to the clip is
