"But as the director goes about laying out the results of the conflict, we understand why he took so long to get to it. Its because he does not have a way of resolving it interestingly." hilarious!!!!!!

anon, Karna-ngara classic paathathe illiya?? poayi mudhal-la paarunga..not for NTR but for our great Late. Sivaji Saar...one of his most brilliant turns as an actor...one of the reasons why i wanted to say, "silaiyaa? kovil-ey katalaam avaruku!" in the discussion we had on bbthots, abt his statue...

SK, it is indeed Em Mahan now?

BB, ena SOK-ku 1.5 thaanaa???? i was expecting at least 2! expected 1 for jo and 0.5 each for suriya and bhoomika...!!

Ram, your split-up reasoning for stars for SOK was too good :) Balaji, IMO Aran doesnt even deserve 2 stars. Pathetic movie with all the wrong ingredients and on top of that, badly made too.

anon, NTR thaan Krishnar...his conversation with Arjunan (played by Muthuraman) after the death of Karna, is a gem in its own right...its just a terrific movie, on the whole...

oh my god, i have seen the movie many times but i had no idea that krishna was ntr!!! i am ashamed of myself, i blame the blue paint. that speech is def well done, and very chilling. thanks ram.

I thot Em(ton) magan deserved 2.5 stars..
The negative aspect was the heavy Vikraman style towards end of second half where the hero becomes pauper to super (for rhyme) within 5 mins :)

balaji totally off the topic, why didn't you announce the awards for last year's films? after watching the filmfare awards and not being convinced by certain people getting their awards, i decided to ask you(a more worthy critic), whom you thought deserved kudos for 2005?

gayathri

SK, yes i think it is... don't remember what the titles said on the print i saw :)

ram, true. but then had to subtract 0.5 for the rest of the crap :)

bart, that was the biggest reason for only 2 *. i felt it was actually boring towards the end...

gayathri, had no idea that i'd not done the 2005 awards on bbreviews. i remember starting on it but no idea what became of it :)

anyway, the filmfare awards r usually a way to get the most # of stars attend the function... gotta go back and chk the awards... might be food for a separate post :)

zero, i meant ' realistic' when i said 'good' there... since he's actually been in the army, i assumed he would keep away from inane comedy and item numbers and focus more on life in the army and what the soldiers actually go thro... wasn't talking about the technical aspects of moviemaking...
