Jaan-e-man - News in Pictures
[Pics Courtesy Rediff]
A couple of interesting pics from Jaan-e-man, the Akshay Kumar-Salman Khan-Preity Zinta - starrer releasing for Diwali. That's Salman Khan, Bollywood's hunky hero, in drag in the first photo above. The film also has veteran actor Anupam Kher playing a dwarf (see 2nd photo). So Kamal's achievement in Aboorva Sagodharargal is no longer gonna be unique. Then again, I guess we can be proud that its taken so long for another actor to even attempt what Kamal did! Unlike Kamal, Kher doesn't seem to be keen on keeping his technique a big secret though. He says in the interview that he played the role by being on his knees.

ayyayyo.. kaalankaathaley ippadi oru dharisanama? kadavuley kadavuley.. Salman Khan parkka sagikkale.. LOL.. funny...
Another love triangle story based on NYC.. I was looking forward to it after watching the promos.. Now, you have made me think about it.. ;)
salman khan - enna kodumai saravanan!!!
as to Kher, notice that the knees are missing.
reg. Salman, unge baashaile "kya kodumai hai saravanan!"
reg. Kher, there's a reason why Kamal Hassan is the ultimate trend-setting actor in Indian cinema...love him or hate him, the passion he brings to his craft is just amazing and wayyy ahead of its times...
here's a kamal hassan trivia question:
in which movie BEFORE Aboorva Sahodharargall did Kamal Hassan does a trick, by appearing as a midget, to cheer a kid?
clue: he performed a double role in the movie. one of the characters' names was Sethu.
PS: lemme know if u were able to answer the q w/o the clue...
oops, just read my comment-- oatta poatta english-la adichathuku mannikavum...here's another line uttered by that kamal character: "My english is not doing very well!"
Ram - Punnagai Mannan :)
I am proud of Kamal, he has surely taken tamil filmdom to a step ahead than others :)
Ram,
It is Chaplin Chellappa in Punnagai Mannan. KK beat me to it.
kk and kaps, kalaks! adhey adhey...!
raju, yaam petra thunbam... :)
munimma, yes. and that's a pretty good sign in AS too as to the scenes where kamal did the knee thing...
ram, that q was too trivial... knew the answer right away :)
bb, paravaille...u usually muzhichify for all my qs...idhu answer panniteengaley...not bad ;)
man, i just scrolled down...and saw "150 comments" for the thala post! while i am happy that the blog is that popular i am just Shocked in a way coz i never thought ppl would argue ENDLESSSSSSSLY...sure we've had arguments (esp. when bhuvan was active) but now...man, this is too muchhhh!!!!!
OMG. He makes one ugly woman.
I seriously wonder why they even consider such roles/costumes?
BTW, HB ole boy :-)
Salman probably looks better in a dress(without meesai, thank goodness!) than Vijay did in a pudavai (with meesai, he refused to shave it as he considered a 'prized possession'!) in "Priyamaanavale". The only 2 guys who looked good enough as gals were Prasanth (Aanazhagan; he really should do these kind of roles more often ;-) and Kamal (Avvai Shanmugi). Saratkumar & Satyaraj looked like Halloween costumes (they are already scary to look at, adhula idhu veraiyaa?)..
Anupam Kher ellam yENi vechaalum Kamal pakkam yetta mudiyaadhu! :-) Ellathukkum oru vayasu irukku, sir. With Salman in a dress and Anupam as a dwarf, I shudder to think that this film may not be much more than buffoonery at its best! :-)
sandya,
anupam kher ille...evanumey kamal hassan-a yaeni vechaalum yetta mudiyaadhu, mutiya vettinaalum kamal alavuku azhagaana jaan pillai aaga mudiyaadhu! remember kamal losing a lot of weight for the role...the weight loss is even more conspicuous when u see the raja character...he looked so thin in that movie. the last time i watched the movie, i remembered how awe-struck i was in '89 when my paati took me to watch the movie!! even remember the "kanna moodiko" during "vaazha vaikkum kaadhaluku jay!"
Salman is looking better in dress...even more than as man...ashwariya will be glad to see him...I hope salman will dance for her in her marriage with abhishekh on song...''Merey haatoon main noo noo chudiyan hai' :-)
