Yaaru Theriudha?

The toothy smile is a dead giveaway but still, pretty good make-up.

The identity is quite obvious... I hope the make up isn't going to be used as some cheap gimmick though... its Madhavan...

Maddy's smile in the stills for dumb movies like this always belie a "what the hell am I doing in this movie" kind of message.

Another quality actor going masala mad. Our Kollywood's going apes over excessive make-ups, get-ups and hang-ups. Sivaji started it, Dasa confirmed it!

Why is it okay for desis to do blackface? It's racist and shows the inclination of some of us to identify with whites (colonialists, conquerors) than other people of color (minority, oppressed, maligned). White people (in general) do NOT identify with Indians, even if they om-shanti and do yoga. We're still brown and 'other' to them.

Madhavan's image makeover

Sanjay Pinto

Thursday, July 17, 2008: (Chennai):

Kamal Haasan's record 10 roles in Dasavathaaram seems to have given many filmmakers in Kollywood fresh ideas. So, south India's heart throb Madhavan has also gone ahead with an image makeover.

Shedding his chocolate boy image for a song in his upcoming Tamil film Guru En Aalu, Maddy dons the role of a Jamaican singer.

NDTV: Inspired by Kamal Haasan's 10 roles in Dasavatharam?

"Dasavathaaram is an inspirational film but this one was my director Selvah's idea. It was for a retro sort of number. It was tough, painting myself and wearing a huge wig," said Madhavan.

NDTV: So what happened to your chocolate boy image?

Madhavan: It turned into dark chocolate!

The film is a remake of Shah Rukh Khan's Hindi hit Yes Boss. The shooting in Switzerland has just been completed. And it's due for a September release.
