Kuselan Ad

Received via email, this ad about Kuselan's release in the Bay Area. Wasn't Pasupathy supposed to be the protagonist in this film? :) Read a couple of news items about the actor being miffed about being sidelined in the film's promos. I'm guessing he'd be really p*ssed off if he saw this ad!

He'd be more pissed off because he can't find some space in an ad featuring Nayantara and Meena :)

why should Pasupathy be pissed off?? i dunt think with his face, they would release the film with 1200 prints all over. He should be grateful that he is getting a wider covarage with Rajni's presence. My only concern here that i hope they find some space for the story as well and not let Rajni dominate it completely

Well, i think he should have been at least be featured in the ad. after all, he does play one of the lead. Although i am a huge fan of rajni, i think the marketing side has been rather unfair to pasupathy. i hope that pasupathy gives an outstanding performance when d movie gets released and gets to have the last laugh.

hah. Let alone Pasupathy having the last laugh! Maybe even Kamal ji! Who said kamal sidelines his co-leads? See what Rajni has done to Pasupathy in the Kuselan promos. Ppathy is not seen anywhere. I wonder if he is really there in the movie! It is only about Rajni, Rajni and Rajni. And to remind, Rajni is doing only a guest role in the picture. We get to see a guest actor in the poster. Goodness gracious! I dearly hope the movie flops all time like baba.

Folks,
Rajni or Kamal completely side lining everybody else in a promo or even in a film is kind of expected and in most cases warranted. In any commercial venture, leave alone movies, the financier(in this case the producer) will concentrate on the USP of the product. In both Rajni and Kamal movies they are kind of the SSP- Sole selling point. The movie may turn out to be good and Pasupathi might have done a wonderful job. But then how many people would walk into the theater to see him. But of course I do agree that he should be given more priority than atleast Meena if not Nayanthara.....Muthu

that is atrocious but was to be expected, nevertheless. the movie's initial business will be solely due to the Rajni factor...if Pasupathi's performance is very good, it will defn. be noticed and talked about since it is in a high profile film (e.g. vijayshanthi in mannan, raghuvaran in baasha and ramya krishnan in padayaps)

I understand the marketing stratergy, but to totally leave out pashupathy in the stills is unfair. Are'nt the director and producers being unfair to the story concept itself in this case?

Agree with Muthu. It is purely a business decision.

And its not like that all the posters are that way. The following ads have Pasupathy, Meena & Vadivel in it:

Balaji-

Both Pasupathy and Vadivelu have been omitted, looks like Rajini called the latter and explained to him his apologies on not being there in the promo advts. Not sure why Pasupathy is eliminated, strange.

i assumed that this poster is for the US and hence the pics of those for whom people will see the movie here - rajni, nayan, meena in that order. i was sure posters back home will feature vadivelu since he is supposedly a big draw and the posters filbert posted confirmed that. as muthu and filbert said, its just a business decision. i for one am hoping pasupathy does real well too :)

Balaji,

Last week Vikatan had a cover page article with Rajni and Pasupathy posing together to clarify on Pasupathy feeling left out in publicity posters for the movie. As you point out, Vadivelu missing is more surprising(I thought even with US-audience he was a draw, particularly Rajni-Vadivel combo after Chandramukhi).

Best regards,
Magesh

virumandi posters had pasupathy and kamal (starting at each other or something like that).. if I remember it correctly.. At that time Pasupathy is pretty much unknown..

Well producers want to make money too...

One more for the brand called Superstar. This brand is far bigger than any story, screenplay, music, songs or whatever. It defies all perimeters of logic or reason... it simply SELLS! And frankly, that's what is expected of it...VIVA LA SUPERSTAR ...!!
