Billa 2007

The trend of remaking old classics has finally started in Tamil cinema too. It now seems official that Ajith will be starring in the remake of Rajni’s Billa (which, btw, was a remake of Amitabh Bachan’s Don, which, incidentally, was recently remade into a new Don starring Shah Rukh Khan. Whew! So, in Visu style, the new Billa is going to be a remake of a remake, which was a remake of a film that was recently remade!). The producer has bought the rights of the original and Rajni too has given the go-ahead to Ajith (and shared his thoughts on the remake).

I just watched Shah Rukh Khan’s Don and though I haven’t seen the original Don with Amitabh Bachan, I have seen Billa and so could make some comparisons. Like most Hindi films these days, Don is slick and stylish. It maintains a fast pace though it feels choppy at times as it shifts between different tracks. The action sequences are well-executed(though I did notice lifts from several Hollywood flicks) and green being the predominant color gives the film a cool, sophisticated look. On the story side, the updates are done well considering the times and the technology advances. So the red diary becomes a CD, the circus performer is now a computer expert, etc. Some new characters and twists are introduced and though they make the screenplay complicated and a tad confusing, they do make the movie unpredictable - and so interesting - even for those who have seen the original.

Apart from Ajith, the other key persons currently attached to the ‘Billa 2007’ project are director Vishnuvardhan, the director of Pattiyal and Arindhum Ariyaamalum, and music director Yuvan Shankar Raja. These choices do make me have high hopes about the project. Ajith can definitely play the cool, suave and ruthless Billa well. And the effeminate behavior he exhibited so well in Varalaaru, if toned down, can help him in the role of the paan-chewing, roadside dancer. Pattiyal has convinced me that Vishnuvardhan is one of the more stylistic directors around and he is capable of providing the stylish look that a remake will require, to differentiate it sufficiently from the original. And Yuvan's thumping, high-energy score for Pattiyal proved that he can provide the perfect score for Vishnuvardhan's stylish filmmaking.

Now, I’m curious about the rest of the cast. I think the heroine role will be the toughest to cast. The heroine here is the strong and silent type and needs to kick(or atleast, seem as though she is capable of kicking) some butt. I’m not sure any of our 3 leading heroines (Trisha, Asin and Nayan) can carry it off. I can’t imagine any of them being convincing executing martial arts moves or riding a bike. So maybe Ileana? But Nayan would be perfect for the Helen/Kareena role – a special appearance where she gets a nice seductive dance number. Just depends on whether she’d agree to do another item number. If egos don’t get in the way, Maddy might be a good choice for the ‘Thengai’ Srinivasan/Arjun Rampal role. But considering Prabhu’s recent choice of roles, he might be in the running too. I’m just hope that none of our usual, overacting supporting actors like Karan or Sriman get cast in the key role! Prakashraj is an automatic choice for the K.Balaji/Boman Irani cop role. He is one of the few supporting characters who can pull off a policeman role convincingly. And Pooja might be a good choice for the Isha Koppikar role.

Since the movie's gonna start rolling in March 2007, thala will probably be singing My Name is Billa... for Diwali '07. Should be interesting...

Very interesting to read your thoughts on Billa '07, Balaji. I haven't seen the original Hindi Don or its newest remake. I haven't seen the tamil Billa (or don't remember it at all now!). So, that said, I am in an unique situation where I don't have any prior influences to expect lots from Billa '07. But with the same token, the dream team of Ajit-Vishnuvardhan-Yuvan doesn't happen every day and I'm looking forward to it, just for that aspect alone..

Thala pOla varumaa! :-)

It is good to see Ajith dedicating good amount of time for script selection. Kireedom and BILLA-007 are two films which are very important for him.

Kireedom is a remake of the Malayalam classic "Kireedom" which elevated MOHANLAL to the Star status and is still considered as the top Malayalam film that presented superb acting from ML and Thilagan. Rajkiran is doing the role of Thilagan and this is a good choice as well.

Again Here. Ajith is acting in BILLA-007. I appreciate his *guts* these days. He tries variety of roles. prob.. apart from the usual angry young man role he had done the effeminate role as well.
Now with KIREEDOM - Emotional bondage b/w Father and Son is also a different role which requires him to bring back his MUGAVARI performance and his Ultra high profile DADA mannerisms that he portrayed in Dheena and Attagaasam (GURU)

He had also proved convincingly in -ve characters. He can play the role of BILLA to a "T" among the present generation of actors. Good choice from him.

ALL THE BEST TO THE BILLA TEAM !

Welcome BILLA - 007 !

BB, you remembe when you had posted on remakes sometime back. I had said that Ajith is a good choice...provided he finds someone to dub for him :-). Ajith is a lot better than other heroes of today for this - he is also in the apt stage of his career for this movie. I hope there arent many dialogues for the DON.
"Ennai pidikkaradhu kashtam mattum illai - mudiyadha kaariyam".
(havent seen Billa so I assume the famous hindi dialogue- "Don ko pakadna mushikil hi nahin.." is there in billa also.)
Try saying that in the Ajith-mimicking tone that every mimicry artiste seems to specialise in these days - and you'll realise what I mean :-)

Raj and Srivatsan,

:-))

Well.. IF we have to dig at every established actors' old movies and some stupid dialogues, then we will end up with a big list :-))

BTW, I agree he failed to impress with RED !

But he did had success with Dheena and Attagaasam in playing DADA roles :-))

In DON, what we need is "GETHU" which Rajini mastered in !

BTW, I hope you people haven't seen the way he is improving in Dialogue delivery and voice modulation these days. IN varalaaru, moments before going to the flashback, You will have
"Unakkaaga thaaNda.. elllaamae unakkaagathaan.. ithu Nadakkaathu..ithu asaiyaathu..ithellam unakkaakagaathaan". Perfect one to prove his improvement

come on, Never live in the past always .. :-)) He had improved in this area a lot !

At 4:35 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yes Ajith has improved a lot in acting, selecting scripts and dialog delivery. RED is not his fault. Its the directors'. Its proved again in Mayavi with surya.

Ajith has impressed in citizen subramani, varalaru father, mugavari, vaali, dheena, attagasam dada etc. He had a lean patch while he concentrated on car race. Now he is back on track and all others have lost to him.

Even in scripts he missed have become hits like Nanda, New, Gemini, Gajini, Kaaka Kaaka to name a few. If he could have grabbed these offers, he would have definitely be next to SUPER STAR. Lets not forget that Super star has given his go ahead for Billa 2007. Its going to give SUPER STAR status to Thala, like the old Billa gave to Rajini. Get charged for a mile stone in 2007.

tabu can be a suitable heroine for this movie, i think.

Dialogue delivery is still a problem for Ajith and for a role like Billa, he needs that the most. If he repeats any of 'Villllun' 'Citizuuun' 'Adhuuu' in the same way in Billa, it could end up as a comic spoof of Superstar's role!

And I am already looking forward to Yuvan's remix of 'Vethalaya pottendi...' :)

Ajith as Billa??
hahaha..

In Varalaaru, the only role that he played with not much problem/effort is the effeminate role and I think it comes natural to him.

Have never liked his feminine voice and irritating performances till now.

TABU? oo please... she looked like Ajith's elder sister in KKKK (Kandu Kondein x2). Very matured looking to pair with Ajith.

Ajith as Billa...kashtama irukku kekartukku..But can only thank god that simbu did not buy the rights and decide to produce/direct/star.
Heroine...konjam kashtam dhan. someone who can carry off a bold/silent killer looks like Zeenat. Namma ooruley dhan yarum illaiye...andhra pakkam dhan ponum. How about shreya reddy?

Edho onnu..as long as they dont screw up thalaivar's movie

IMO, its gonna be a bumper of a success in all centres.......but my preference for a cast list would be, balaji.........(Billa07 and Don06)

Shah Rukh Khan........Ajith Kumar
Arjun Rampal..........R. Madhavan (Maddy all the way after a possible film with Vishnu before Billa (Sarvam) )
Priyanka Chopra.......Asin Thottumkal (She has a Cunning but Great Look)
Kareena Kapoor........Nayantara
Isha Koppikar.........Trisha Krishnan (For Fame Sake)
Boman Irani...........Napolean (after Vattaram)/Prakash Raj

Any ideas Balaji?

I think only a person having that naturally can sense this and post this kind of comment :-)) In that way, I think it comes with effort as well and so do the negative character that he played !

You haven't liked his performance till now ! :( Pretty bad that you approved it only when he portrayed what you can feel naturally :(

I agree with you dude and your list !

But I don't think he repeats the same nowadays for your disappointment !

Though THIRUPATHI is not a good film, his dialogue delivery when he beats the elder brother (doctor) and explains the doctor's role - You can sense how much he had improved !

Plus in VArlaaru he portrayed all the three characters with sufficient Voice VAriation and Modulation wouldn't say it as excellant.. but Very good and how he is improving in this area as well realsing the mistakes he made before.

BTW, People belonging to RK-KH generation won't accept it even if the movie is good and his performance is good since fan of any superstar won't agree if someone else plays the same role again and they won't get the feel !

But take note that Ajith has chosen the movie and I am sure he will face criticism irrespective of how he performs. It is all now in the hands of Vishnu and Ajith to erase that and come out with flying colors

I've been to many Ajith movies on the first day and I never see the kind of reception that Rajni or Kamal get. When I went to Baba, people were lighting camphor(karpuram) in their hands and showing it in front of the screen for Rajni's entry. For Virumaandi, nearly truckloads of rose and other flower garlands were flung at the screen for Kamal's entry and even thousands of crackers were burst at the theatre entry. So for christ's sake please don't compare Rajni and Kamal with Ajith or any of the present generation of stars. Sure, they have fans but not on the level of craze like Rajni and to some extent even Kamal.

That said, I think if Ajith can get his voice(which I feel is his only minus as an actor) right like the others have said before me, then he would be the perfect choice for Billa 2007. Billa is one movie where Rajni doesn't display to the maximum extent much of his trademark style(as in say Baasha) and it would be easy to play that role for Ajith. I would prefer Asin in SriPriya's role because with a bit of training she can get the kicking and boxing going for her. I pretty much agree with others over the other roles.

But having watched both Don and the original Billa(I have not seen the latest one yet), I feel it would be difficult coming to terms with this new Billa if it is indeed a scene by scene remake which I hope it isn't.

The fact is Rajini and Kamal have fans who are also critics if actor comes up with some rubbish, while others don't

if some one can insult ajith y cant do it for rajini n kamal.

hi sivaraman whether you agree with me or not ajith and vijay are having grander openings than rajini and kamal these days.

ok see namakhalal n its remake velaikaaran . rajini is not even 5% of amitabh in comedy scenes.

n also kamal is a good actor but 25 - 30 movies (or may be more )of his r just ignorable n utter crap.
even he s no way near to sanjay dutt in munnabhai , sanjay was so natural.

then how can u rajini, kamal fans can talk abt thala when rajini n kamal not up to mark.

At 1:16 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Simple, what you said is absolutely correct.Kamal in fact only has 40-50 good movies in his career, rest are below par or rubbish (thala does not even have it other than Vaalee everything is rubbish!!). Anyway u like Ajith and Ajith Only, I like good films (whoever acts) thats the difference. Don't want to convince you beyond that!

At 1:23 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

not only valee ,kadal kottai,mugavari , aasai,uyiroda,uyiroga n many more movies .

At 1:43 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

First of all, I am Balaji(not Sivaraman) and I am neither a Rajni or Kamal fan. I like good movies, if Ajith produces them then I will definitely watch it but he has not recently done so. Varalaru was only okay and I don't need to comment on Tirupathi at all. Look at Kamal's masala movies, Sakalakala Vallavan, Maharasan and the lot and they are at least watchable and funny where as look at Tirupathi, it is utter crap. His good movies are in the past like Valee, Aasai and I agree these are good.

And about openings, we'll see the real openings now that the prices are cut in Tamil Nadu by the CM and you tell me any Ajith that movie that has run for 600 days like CM. Even though it is kept running by the fans, he has fans who will keep it running unlike Ajith.

But as I said, if Billa is one of the good movies from Ajith then I will definitely watch it.

At 1:46 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Maharasan watchable!! - Thalaiva Unga porumaikku alave ille..

At 1:51 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

In my younger days when I was 8 or 10 definitely funny and watchable and I liked it at that time. As I have grown as a movie critic now, maybe not but it is still better than what Tirupathi offered.

At 2:06 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

So, Balaji is comparing Maharaasan and Tirupathi. would be perfect IF you could compare RAM LAXMAN with Thirupathi ! :-))

IMO, We wouldn't be the first person to criticise Rajini or Kamal. We haven't done that before. But nowadays fans of Kamal and Rajini have reached a level in which they can comfortably criticse other actors' movies. IF you take some of early movies of KH and recent movies of RK, whether the film becomes a hit or not, they will be equally bad when compared to masala that is getting delivered nowadays.

Kamal fans have reached that level since they want every actor in the industry to follow the path set by their thalaivar. I mean > He expects every upcoming actor to deliver class films all the time or May be his fans expect so. But point to be noted is: Kamal found this only during the GUNA Period and before that he was also delivering mirchi masala if not as crap as like these days, but crap when compared to the period before that. Rajini has started delivering it after Baasha. Muthu, Arunachalam, Baba etc CM had other factors and was packaged neatly as well.

So, fans of these actors dare not to trash any established young actor. They need films that deal with quality of HOllywood films sid eby side keeping movieslike MX, Baba etc as good entertaining films !

when some other young actor delivers the same, it takes a 360 degree turn and they become critic.

balaji - Every actor have their own share of flops and craps :-)) right from MGR and Shivaji :-))

Point to be noted here is : How well an actor can play a role taking into consideration of their recent performances ? before GF, I saw the entire blogsphere laughing to the hell when they heard that Ajith plays the role of a classical dancer. But who is eating their words now ? Now, I am seeing them criticising the "Thottapuram" episode and the movie ! Funny here is : HAD it been performed by their favorites (for e.g., INCEST COMEDY SEQUENCE THAT APPEARS IN CM b/w Rajini and VAdivelu) they will keep on running that for 500 days without caring whether the operator or tea shop owner in Shanthi theatre sees it or not !

At 2:16 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

would be perfect IF you could compare RAM LAXMAN with Thirupathi ! :-))

yes both are same (CRAP period)..

At 2:29 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree every actor has had its share of hits and flops and Ajith played only the dancer role well. Of course, it was surprising because the other two roles we expected him to play well. I am not saying Ajith is a bad actor or has not delivered his share of hits, I am only saying please don't compare the previous generation Kamal and Rajni with this generation Ajith and Vijay, that is not fair. Please understand that.

Other than that, as I said, I thought Varalaru was watchable because of the dancer role and I am planning to see Aalwar also during Pongal. I feel Ajith can do the Billa role well and if it is good, I will watch it, no doubt.

At 2:42 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Balaji,
Thanks for the comfort. At anytime, I will agree the negatives of Ajith - The ACtor. I would never come up with a comment that Ajith is the best blah blah .. but what irritates me is the kind of comments that is coming from fans of RK and KH sometimes.

Anyway, I beg to differ on your views on Varalaaru. Apart from the dancer role, he did the "Villan" role effectively. He is improving and his scrip selection nowadays is good IMO.

Ofcouse, Ajith is the only person who had tried DOUBLE ROLES more than 1 time and has quite a bit of interest in doing them. With that, I think he can do BILLA - 007 effectively. Plus - Billa requires some amount of VILLAN + HERO mix up ! Ajith will perfectly fit in that character ! His portrayla of MAJESTY was good inAttagaasam in "Thala Pola Varuma" song. with that, I think "My Name is Billa" may rock like the same !

I have full confidence in him as far as billa is concerned !

P.S : I wouldn't be bringing RK - KH unnecessarily here P E R I O D

At 3:03 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ajith in the past has done negative shade characters very well especially in Valee and to some extent in Varalaru as you said, so Billa role will suit him well. And his script selection has improved because supposedly Shalini is helping him. That is not to degrade Ajith in any way but just pointing it out. And as far as the director is concerned Vishnuvardhan has proved he can handle the gangster subject with style in AA and especially in Pattiyal. So, Billa 2007 has all things going for it and a lot of pressure on it to deliver, so hopefully it will.

I really appreciate you sensible post. Even I want to know the Dialogue delivery problems of Ajith. Can you point me what do you mean by dialogue delivery and what Ajith faces problems in this department and is there any improvement. I find that Ajith has improved a lot in this department in the film Varalaaru. Waiting for your reply.

thanks in advance

I fail to understand all these comparisions between the new DON and all these South films.
These South films look cheap and technically light years behind bollywood.
All they can do is copy Hollywood and Bollywood.
They try to be garrish and end up looking cheap!

hey sorry friend i was just angry n compared sanjay to kamal .

hey anon u r right .
i spend all my childhood days watching amitabh movies.technically tamil movies cant be compared to hindi movies.
tamil cinema is just hero centric .

bollywood has so many great character artists- paresh rawal ,anupam kher, amrish puri, kader khan who have done/are doing better jobs than tamil heroes.

however i like ajith because of his looks esp aasai . he was too cute .i dont know how u people compare maddy or suriya to aasai ajith.

A bad trend that needs to be nipped in the bud. Suffice to say Iam not looking forward to this movie. Vishnuvardhan who displayed his lack of originality in Pattiyal has decided to do a remake. Yeah, Big surpise there. The Hindi Don itself received mixed reviews and wasnt a super duper hit. Aping Bollywood-mania of doing remakes is the worst thing that can happen to the Tamil film industry at the same time when producers like Shankar are doing their best to encourage good scripts. I guess if a couple of them bombs(like Umrao Jaan, Shiva did in Hindi) then maybe this trend will end. Our producers and directors will have to learn it the hard way.

and the funny thing is Billa itself was a remake. Tragic.

vishnuvardhan said in an interview tat he had the idea of remaking BILLA a couple of years ago.. but none of the actor had the guts to take up the challenging role.. Now Ajith has accepted to don the role..
Its shows the real guts of an actor.
after hearin this news Vijay has started reviewin the idea of acting in Murattukaalai.
Even Simbhu is lookin into Rajini's old movies..

Vijay is even copying such ideas..

So think about it.. Who is the real hero.. its always "AJITH"

vijay,

good point, next yr I heard Dasavatharam, Sivaji, Billa-07 and Pokkiri which are rumoured to cross 150cr in total are slated to release.

If 3 of them flop, then good stories like Veyyil would be looked into automatically. I don't have trust that any of these will make it big.

Might be some Cheran's movie / Kamal's own production might break the jinx.

At 10:40 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

does anyone know who is producing the movie?

At 10:57 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well lets wait a while for the movie to get started knowing Ajith's track record we never know who will finally do the movie. The number of movies Ajith has back out after pasting posters is numerous.

I also don't understand what's the whole euphoria about Ajith doing Kireedam, there is already a Tamil version of it dubbed from telegu called Aambalai(Dr.Rajasekar) and it was a hit too at that time.

And specially for Mr.Cynical(Vijay) every 3rd movie in Hollywood is a remake and there's is notting wrong in adapting something for local audience as long as the end product is good.

If given the breathing space I think Vishnuvardhan has the goods to produce and good technical team to back him. Nirav and Yuvan have been good for him and I sure they will repeat that.

My guess, bcos of their personal equation its gonna be Arya for Thengai role :), lets see.

On another level altogether, whatever I could learn from my friend who is an assistant director, Ajith is a firm favourite with the filmi folks and a very down to earth guy unlike other actors.

This one is not romour for sure
u can book the tickets if u are intrested now itself

again after reading all the comments i just recall madhavan's recent interview

he said on quotes " every one praised me for anba sivam but where on INTERNET . so many praises but the movie is FLOP. but for thambi everybody says it is over acting in INTERNET but movie is HIT " i now decided that i will only do movies for ppl who are making successss

so thats ends your worries ....

>> and there was a beautiful comparison between north indian and south indian flim industry ...

some of u comments are childish .. no one in industry says that they are industry for social service ... it is all about money ... u invest and u know who is target audience and get back profit/loss.... even child knows what is reach of the hindi flims area wise / no of spectators wise .. and what is the reach of tamil flims ... thats mackes the difference in investment and that drives the technical factors of the movieeeeeee

having said all .. ajith is always unlucky with critics ... they donot like them by blood .. probably he is smart looking than a avg tamilian ... i just guessing ... his critics gave reasons different different ones different times .... but they least intrest in watching him closely and who is supporting him in industry .. he is all alone fighting a battle of survival .. just stop and watch at this moment

Bharath upcoming actor in this interview to HINDU said .. my role model is AJITH ... bcos off late he is one surviving with flying colors against the varaisu flim industry .. so a person like me who wants to succeded without having GODFATHER IN flim industry .. he is motivation ...

that comment is what he achieved ...

SURYA , SIMBHU ., ARYA .. used/projected themselves as AJITH FANS in the movies like MAYAVI , MANMADHAN .. and PATTIYAL .. even VEYYIL has some portion stating about THALA ... AJITH is getting this privilege which was usually given to MGR AND RAJINI

i tell u it takes GUTS not to attend the CM function .. when SUNTV and JAYA TV is showing the KAAKA putikam thanam of RAJINI & KAMAL same time .. where is your real faces .. KK and RAJINI fans .. the only GUY who has not attended Both functions is AJITH .. he stands out ... THATS THE REAL GUTS ...

How many of u know .. SUN MUSIC rejected to show any ajith songs bcos he did not attend the CM function ... but who cares .... the put VALLAVAN in front of VARALAARU .. who cares ....

thats THALA paaaa ...

okie i done enough of my writing ... one more good news is AALWAR is not having a opening song .. his opening song will be a carnatic music devotional song .. beautifully composed by srikanth DEVA .... AALWAR director said all AJITH's dialogues in AALWAR movie can be written in single paper .. all actions no talking ...

so critics change now .. else he make u to eat your words

Endrum Anbudan,
kamal.

The above is not guts, thalaganam. Ajith is and has been hard headed for a long time, evident from backing out of Maniratnam's production and making kaaja to commit suicide, Bala did not complete Naan Kadavul, there are numerous cases. The only person to blame for Ajith not becoming a superstar is none other than himself :)

Nool (thread) pidichutaangalla.. Ini "thala" century potruvaruyya. Balaji, eppo eppo page hit venumo appo appo thalai pera izhuthu vutrunga. Mathathellam tharuthalainga paathukkuvaanga.

"The above is not guts, thalaganam."

then calling amma as saviour of tamilnadu tamil cinema etc
now saying aiyaa s god of tamil nadu n speaking peotic dialougues ,singing songs
to praise whoever is the current CM .how cheap other actors are.
good jalraa specialist.

Only thala s not doing jalraa.

Whilt the thala bhakthi is annoying to see for its stupidity, I have to agree that it is GUTS to not heap false praise on K/J when the whole film world including the so-called unpartisan superstars and supre actors falling over their head to find praise for them. It shows he is true to his heart which is commendable in a state where the film industry and politicians mutually ass-lick for their personal benefits. One has got to be fair...
But thala fans, please go easy n his acting skills, which are majorly let down by his dialogue delivery. No wonder the Alwar director wanted to have not more than a page of dialogues :-)

>> The above is not guts, thalaganam.

U already got answers for this

if u are rajini fan ask him not to say the stupid dialogues like
" naan eppa varuvan .. eppa varuvan "

he played with his fans sentiments ... just enough for them to get beaten up by PMK stupid workers

so it is not A game .. be serious else back out

>> Ajith is and has been hard headed for a long time, evident from backing out of Maniratnam's production

Any proof ... actual thing happened is that mani booked ajith and surya but after they booked, vijay gave one mega hit .. so they thot vijay will be better ..so they backed off ajith without any reasons ... that why ajith never acted in any VASANTH ( the director who gave his first HIT ) MOVIES .......

>> and making kaaja to commit
suicide,

LOL for this ... awesome .. he acted only one movie for him Aanda pongatreyyyy ... which was a decade ago .. that movie also a decent HIT .... after that he produced many movies with vijaykanth , sarath kumar and prabhu deva .... then he booked KK for VV .. then he attempted to suicideee .... so where Ajith in picture now .........

>>Bala did not complete Naan Kadavul,

BALA is good director not good guy .. CAN U tell me any of his producer is happy though he claims he gave 2 HITS .. all know what happened to pitha megan producer ...

BALA ACT in pithamagan

he got the money ( VIKRAM salary ) from producer and did not give to VIKRAM .. when vikram asked for that .. he asked him to ask the producer .. ... THATS BALA for u

For Ajith

He got ajith callsheet and asked him to reduce weight and grow hairs etc etc .. when ajith ready with getup , he said the script is not ready and asked him to act for paramasivan producer ... BALA got good commision in the deal too ... then after paramasivan , tirupathy .. when AJITH again asked ... Bala said the same thing the script is not ready .. u act another movie for another producer ( other bala's friend ) ... Ajith said enough is enough .. i know which producer to act ... we can call it off and returned the ADVANCE ... but what bala asked is INTREST For the advance ........ GREAT BALA

The same bala who said the script is not ready started shooting with ARYA in next week or so ... GREAT .. keep it up BALA

>>there are numerous cases. The only person to blame for Ajith not becoming a superstar is none other than himself :)

Yes YES .. that true .. few for u

1. Many times his frieds taken him for granted .. many movies including DHEENA he acted for free
for his friends .. .. NO god father .. suddenly money , fame , jalras in early 20's .. too much to handle for him .. so he was just carried away in few instances

2. He is not concentrating on publicity ... he least give to importance to media ... probably he thinks he is straight shooter with words .. he cannot bend for media

3. His intrests for races in between .....

This movie was started with Vijay and Ajith, Surya came later in picture after Ajith pulled out. He pulled out because he did not have more dates to give as his dates were unused.

Not only Vasanth, he also never acted for Madras talkies again.

Just hope Ajith and Vijay join hands with some decent director and give some meaningful movies..

Surya , Bharath who started their careers well after Ajith and Vijay are surely a better breed than former!! and have 5-6 good films in a span of 15-16 films..

i think ajith and vijay were giving good movies compared to other actor actors during the 90's
. somhow both of them want to become next superstar n now they giving crap movies.

WOW, WHAT A LOTS OF COMMENTS ON THIS TOPIC! I TOOK THE TIME TO READ ALL OF THEM BEFORE COMMENTING NOW. AS I'M COMMENTING AFTER WATCHING AALWAR, I JUST WANT TO SAY SOME LATEST THINGS HERE: FROM WHAT I KNOW AND HEARD OF, AJITH IS INDEED AN ACTOR WITH A BIG TALENT AND GOOD HEART, BUT HE MAKES BAD DECISIONS ON MANY CRITICAL MOMENTS, ESPECIALLY HIS CHOICE OF MOVIES. I WONDER HOW HE COULD HAVE TAKEN CRAP MOVIES LIKE AALWAR, TIRUPATHI AND ANJANEYA BUT INSTEAD REJECTED GOOD MOVIES LIKE NANDA, GAJINI ETC THAT WOULD SURELY HAVE DONE GREAT WONDERS TO HIM! (AS WHAT HAPPENED TO SURYA WHO TOOK THOSE MOVIES INSTEAD). NOBODY ELSE PLAYS A BIGGER ROLE IN PREVENTING HIM TO BE THE NEXT SUPERSTAR BUT HE HIMSELF! I DO PITY HIM A LOT FOR STANDING ON HIS OWN WITHOUT HAVING A GODFATHER OR HELP IN THE INDUSTRY, BUT HE MUST IMPROVE IN HIS MOVIE CHOICE AND ALSO MARKETING OF THE MOVIES HE ACTS. LOOK HOW EVEN NEW ACTORS LIKE VISHAL AND ARYA PROMOTE THEIR MOVIES THROUGH THE MEDIA!
ANYWAY, I'M HOPEFUL FOR BILLA AS IT WILL BE DIRECTED BY VISHNU. I HOPE BOTH KREEDOM AND BILLA WILL SHAPE OUT WELL AS I DONT WANT TO GO AND WATCH CRAP MOVIES LIKE ALWAR WITH HIGH EXPEXTATIONS, ONLY TO WASTE MY TIME AND MONEY
