The Bald and the Stylish

The latest tidbit about thalaivar's Sivaji is that Rajni has shaved his head for the climax. Ever since I read the news, I was wondering how he'd look and whether I'd have to wait until April 14th to find out. Thanks to fellow Rajni rasigan Filbert who sent me the above pic, I got an early look! The bald head, the beard, the coolers and the suit... must say he looks really stylish. Only thalaivar can make even bald look cool :-)

Thanks for posting this, Balaji. I really feel that this is THE coolest picture of Thalaivar released so far. Looks like he resembles Laurence Fishburne or Samuel Jackson.

It takes guts to show off Thalaivar like this and Shankar looks like one magician to me :) But I really wish that this still had not come out now and had come as a surprise in the movie (just like Vettaiyaraja in CM)

Saw this pic first at Behindwoods.com this morning. Sorry, Balaji, for being a nay sayer, but I personally think this picture is cooked up and not the real thing.

First and foremost, Shankar may have been very careless about letting out stills from songs and other things, but I don't think he's going to be so careless as to let out appearances/scenes from the climax.

Regardless of whether this is cooked up or not, Rajini really looks cool. By the way, folks, a good cross section of us are going to end up bald some day, so let's not go around passing judgements about 'how bald is not beautiful.'

Thalaivar.. we like you all the same.. Bald or not! :-) ;-)

sandya, so many of our heroes - rajni, sathyaraj, karthik, prabhu - wear wigs so baldness is not the issue for me...I just didnt think this pic was easy on the eye!

sandya, cooked up how? r u saying its not rajni at all or that someone made him bald using photoshop? if at all, they did an amazing job :) i've seen a few fakes but this one, with all those people behind, looks real. we'll know come april 14th :)

sirnapper, join the club :)

Balaji, I think it is cooked up in the way of making him bald using photoshop. Absolutely anything can be done in photoshop and I can show you a photo that Krishna did that looks so real that you couldn't guess even if I told you that one of the members in that photograph wasn't part of the original shot, but was incorporated/blended in, to give the impression that she was part of the pic to begin with...

Creating a bald head for Rajini and incorporating a crowd in the background is not difficult, Balaji..

reminds me of the madhu joke from "meesai aanalum manaivi" - "edhuku unge anna thirupathi-ku poayi mottai adikanum...konja naall vitta thaanaa elaa mudiyum kottidum!"

sotta payaluku mottai...adhukku ivlo gudhikreenge elaarum! rajni koduthu vechavar thaan! sigh!

Whenever an actor shaves his head or grows his hair really long the film media makes a big deal out of it. As if it is some big achievement.

Rajni is runing out of options when it comes to choice of movies. I recently watched "arilurunthu arubathuvarai" and liked it. Looks like he is trying to get into that type of "acting" but is finding breaking away from his "image" very dificult. So is resorting to gimmicks like shaving his head. That shot makes him look ridiculus. He's always been a trendsetter and that is also an "out of context" shot so it may be too early to judge. Still it does not look cool. It looks like he is trying to mimic some hollywood actor like Arjun, Kamal, Sarath have done many times.

hey this is really cool man. I hate rajinikanth but now i think he is really turning stylish and the motta thalai he has got really suits him than his fake wigs.
