2 Trailers

A couple of new trailers that have whetted my appetite for the movies...

Veyyil - Its been a while since I've looked forward to a movie because of its producer. But Kaadhal and Imsai Arasan 23aam Pulikesi have marked Shankar as a producer willing to take risks and delivering near-masterpieces. Hope Veyyil continues the trend. New age music always makes for good background music and it accompanies some nice images in this trailer. The theme("life journey of 2 men, 1 blessed and the other cursed") sounds intriguing and different too.

Sivappadhigaaram (Look under the Sifymax videos section) - While Vishal's current status has made this film hot property, another reason to look forward to it is its director Karu.Pazhaniappan. He is the director behind Parthiban Kanavu and though his second venture Sathurangam hasn't seen the light of day yet, it looks like Sivappadhigaaram won't have any such problems. The lines uttered in the background are quite inspirational and some of the scenes make it seem like this might be a different kind of an action film. Vishal himself looks a lot more presentable than before.

There are a bunch of movies slated to release before this year ends and right now, these two are definitely the ones I'm most looking forward to...

Kaadhal was very good. Haven't seen Imsai Arasan, as it is not on DVD. But judging from Kaadhal, I like Shankar more as a producer of others' films than as a director of his own!

Veyyil seems to be more attractive. Sivappathigaram again sounds good but might be masala coated.
Some other movies to lookout for: Poi, Mozhi, Satham podathey

Balaji,

I am also expecting these two movies for the same reasons you have mentioned..
More than that, there is one ironical coincidence, which give me a more attention on Sivappathigaaram..

After a 3 continuous hit, dhanuh lost his magical touch in 4th film, puthukottaiyil irunthu Saravanan
The same was happened to Jayam Ravi also..
Now vishal in that list. His fourth movie is Sivappathigaram..
All these three guys have some cine background.. As cinema industry always beleive in these type centiment, will sivappathigaram break it.. Waiting to watch this, Balaji..

Balaji, another reason to look forward to these movies - both have some very good music too. Just like in Parthiban Kanavu where the Karu Pazhaniappan - Vidhyasagar combo produced some amazing music, Sivappathigaaram too has some great numbers and is definitely one of the best albums of the year. Agree with Zero about Pasupathy - one of the best Tamil actors around

All said and done,I really like Vishal in the current bunch of heroes. He is a good action hero and when he screams its not jarring to the ears. And he is watchable in his dance and stunts and he his voice is defnitely good when compared to the current bunch of heroes Simbu/Ravi/Arya/dhanush.
I somehow feel this movie will be a hit since the Madurai and other South people Lap up these kind of Dark Macho heroes pretty well.

And Bharath is great as an actor as well as Pasupathy. So waiting for Veyyil is in my list too.Same way with Mozhi. It has Prithvi raj and Radha moham combo. The former being a good actor and the latter being a good director.Poi is not much in my list because of the last fiasco of KB "Parthale Paravasam"

yeah, i think veiyyil must be an interesting movie...it comes from the director of "album," a pretty decent effort that showed glimpses of his talent..."album" actually had some really nice songs like "pillai thaamarai" so am hoping "veiyyil" boasts of a good music album too...GV Prakash is the music director, rite?

"sivappadhigaram" - more than anything else, i hope raghuvaran has a substantive role...its being touted as his comeback movie...i really dont care much for vishal...but the director of parthiban kanavu i hope has a good screenplay in his hands, the way he did for his debut...as an aside, i wish "sadhurangam" gets released for srikanth's sake...+ that is the only movie where i remember looking at pics of sonia agarwal actually smiling in a pleasant way...one good reason for the movie to be released! coz if Sneha's Punnagai Arasi, Sonia Agarwal is the Punnagai Pichakaari...

At the very least, I expect these 2 to be a tad better than the mediocre crap dished out for Diwali.

i have been enjoying the music of veyyil on my laptop the past couple of days, if you want a sneak peek, you can listen to the songs for free on tamilsongs.net to hear them... gv prakash has shown that he has inherited some of his relative ar rahman's talent. the trailer for the movie looked very interesting as well-- i am most intrigued in seeing how shreya reddy will do in her role that is supposed to be very different from her over the top role in thimiru.

On a different note, can someone explain how do Prashanth and Arjun manage to get someone to produce and then release their movies, while the likes of Karu Pazhaniappan sometimes have difficulty with releasing their finished products? Fuuny, the ways of our tinseltowns

"uruguthae' from veyil is one of my favourite... 'Atrai thingal' frm SP too... Hope both turn out to be some interesting movies to watch...

I hv confidence on Shankar & KP, eventhough, I don't hv that much on Vasanthabalan.. Anyhow, we cannot decide based on his earlier movie.. let us wait and watch

Very Easy Vijay, the producers of Prasanth are basically first timers who have tonnes of black money that they want to convert to white. Basically they want the movie to be a flop so that they can show a loss on their balance sheet.

Balaji,as I had expected telugu industry has banned dubbed films
http://www.hindu.com/2006/11/09/stories/2006110919030100.htm
It would be a big setback for the tamil film industry as people like shankar depend a lot on the telugu market.
will it be the end of big budget films in tamil?

It will be the end of Shankar in Tamil :), anyway after Shivaji he is scheduled to do a Telegu movie, rumour is he is launching junior Chiru.

I think veyil will be a good movie which we can expect !

Sivapathigaaram may prove to be yet another MEGA SERIAL crap delivered ! Parthiban Kanavu was a fine example. :-)
Hope Veyil outruns this serial crap !
