reminds me of the Oscar nite in 2002 when I was in Pittsburgh and was watching the live telecast, hoping against hope that Lagaan would win the Best Foreign Film but that wasnt to be. But I've heard -- havent seen it though-- from ppl that No Man's Land was a terrific film...but Lagaan defnly deserved the nomination...it was a delightful film with such a novel concept...

Paheli -- havent seen it; so wont comment on it...

watched paheli over the weekend. the movie was mediocre and rani muhkerjee is a bad choice for such period flims. the ending with the shepherd was totally uncalled for. i wonder who sent this movie to represent India?

Paheli didn't make it to the final five...? So no surprises there, huh?

LAGAAN was a once-in-a-lifetime-nomination. NO MAN'S LAND was pretty good, but overrated due to its serious subject matter. LAGAAN on the other hand is the best Bollywood, no, scratch that, the best Indian film I've ever seen.

PAHELI I have no inclination to see whatsoever. MANGAL PANDEY, on the other hand, was way underrated and could've made the final five.
