Sivaji - New Stills

Finally... these look like some official photos from Sivaji. They look more like publicity shots rather than stills from the film but right now, we'll take anything! The extra-ruffled hairstyle makes thalaivar look really young and cool, especially in the last photo below.

Ahaa.. finally, Thalaivar, the way we have always wanted to see him. Stylish, attractive and well-dressed. Rajini must be looking himself in the mirror saying "Where did this guy Shankar go, all these years of my career? This is the best I have ever seen of myself!"..

Goes to show that a little extra care and a lot of attention to detail can make a whale of a difference in anybody's appearance (be it Rajini or even any normal joe! :-)..

Kudos to Shankar and Rajini's visionary makeup artist and costumer (looked all over the web for the name and couldn't find it). I guess he or she will remain an unsung hero/heroine until the press bothers to take some notice (hopefully sometime soon!)

"... makes thalaivar look really young and cool ..."

Cool venumna, I can (half) accept.

Young? Only if you are a rabid Rajini fan. Or if you are comparing with Baba.

Easier to make people look young/handsome/pretty in stills, than for an entire movie. And in the past, Shankar has made better men and women (in the looks department i.e.) look awful in his song picturizations. So all you die-hard Rajini fans, don't get your hopes up yet.

Now before I get roasted here, vidu jootu ...

would be much better if he removed that fungal fuzz under his lips. That is definitely Yuck! Considering the raw material, kudos to the makeup artist, and no wonder she is in demand ;-)

Hi Balaji,

off topic, but can't wait for your review on Parijatham. AWESOME Movie!! Prithviraj and Saranya are just great.

Finally figured out what Shankar is trying to do. We wanted him to reduce Thalaivar's age by 10-15 years but he is reducing it by 20-25 years!! Result - a dashing Thalaivar. The first pose with Thalaivar sitting on the chair is the ultimate. What a style. Ek hi Chandni Hai aur Ek hi Thalaivar hai :)

Got to give it to the Shivaji make-up + costume dept: Rajni looks 'cool' in these "official" snaps...just hope to see more of these than the ones where Rajni was looking...lets just say, a little unflattering...
but in this set, i actually liked the first one the most...looks very stylish. I liked his style n panache in movies like Annamalai, Baasha and Padaiyappa and missed that Rajni "spark" in Chandramukhi...in spite of all the mind-boggling numbers, I still think Rajni just went thro' the motions in that one...but well, Sivaji-la ena panraaru nu paapom!

Awesome pictures. sandya I think the costumes are by Manish Malhotra..he's used by Kajol, Shah Rukh, Kareena and all the biggies in Bollywood and is responsible for many a good make over for poorly dressed actors and actresses. The make up is really good and looks very natural too. Chandramukhi and earlier pics of thalaivar..i thot had jarringly loud makeup and this one is def more softer and easy on the eye..but maybe it has to do with lighting.

he looks ridiculous. he looks old not because 50 is ancient but because of a bad face lift, ridiculous hair (yes i realize puffy coiffures are a rajni statement. i didn't like it in 30 years ago when it was his own and i don't see a reason to like it now that it's some other creature's) and dressing like a backpacker. just because he's dressed in a fashion that is actually fashionable in the US and the photography is good, y'all are gurgling with delight.

anon, just that millions of tamilians chose to disagree with you 30 years ago and guess what, millions will disagree with you today as well...

trust me am no huge rajni fan but i'll be part of the "gurgling with delight" crowd for this one!

ram, i am sure i will see sivaji and like it fine, but saying rajni looks attractive or speaks thamizh beautifully or whatever just because his films are fun... no, i cannot agree.

oh! oh! some serious comments from our friend here..take it easy mate..ain't gonna make a difference whether you slug out your opinions in a dashing manner.

I have a doubt..you personally disagree with Rajini acting or you disagree his makeup..a little confusing. Either of which you disagree is not acceptable.

So stop being a punk and make such ridiculous comments..
