2 New Reviews

2 new reviews are online at bbreviews. Next week will probably see the 500th review on the site :-) Also hoping to have the long-delayed post on my defense of my reviews at that time.

Defense on your reviews? Were they ever attacked?!?

Congrats Balaji on approaching this milestone.. I have read almost all your reviews and found them to be neutral and fair. One thing I disagree with you is when you under-praise the beauty of some heroines.. (So your blog on the curvaceous actresses was a surprise for me). Most often you say 'cute'... Some of the actresses have been gorgeous, beautiful, mind-blowing, flattering and what not.

It would be great if you 'varnanai' them from your heart.. :-)

Wow. 500 reviews! That's no mean achievement. Why defend your reviews?

king, i had the same hopes for shaam when i saw him for 12b. seeemed like a good debut. he was good-looking, acted OK, danced well and fought competently. for a while his career seemed progressing along the right path with a nice mix of movies like bala, iyarkai, etc. but starting with 'anbe anbe' he has been on a steep slide. unfortunately his career shows no signs of picking up with no promising movies on his plate right now, I think.

not sure i've heard about the movie 'circuit'. and yes, i think 'kutti' would qualify as an independent film.

asokan/ammani, maybe defense was not the exact word. meant more like a short essay on why and how i do what i do. should answer frequent questions like "why did u rate a particular movie so high/low", etc.

gp, i think u'll find some of adjectives describing simran in many movies :) if not, those feelings were certainly in my heart. will try and put them in words more :)

balaji, where do you watch the new films that you review? VCDs or in theatre?

i go to the theater for hi-profile ones that get released in the bay area(CM, MX, Kanaa Kanden, Anniyan, etc.) Others i watch on VCD or tape...
