No Majaa for Trisha!

Trisha has opted out of Majaa, the Vikram starrer :-( While the official reason seems to be unavailability of dates, the unofficial reason is said to be the miniscule role of the heroine in the hero-centric film(after all, its about an old man and his two sons going up against bad guys!). Looks like Trisha learned her lesson after Thiruppaachi after all! But this is surprising news since there were reports earlier that the heroine's role was being beefed up after Trisha got on board. Oh well...

Front-runners for the role now are Nayantara and Asin, with Asin having an edge since Vikram had earlier given a thumbs down for Nayan after her pairing with senior actors. If it is Asin, it would be quite a coup for her since she already has films with Vijay(Sivakasi), Ajith(Godfather) and Surya(Gajini) in her kitty. Personally, I'm rooting for Nayan. I hope she overcomes the rather unfair Cradle 2 Grave jinx :-)

Vikram gave a thumbs down for Nayantara because she acted with older actors?! I thought Vikram himself was in his forties???

Wow, Trisha, you go girl! Maybe this will start a trend for those heroines who want to stick around doing lead roles for a long time forcing Producers/Directors to take them seriously. But...I doubt if it will especially as long as there are guys like Vikram around (see question/statements above) :)

Vikram is probably going thru a midlife crisis and wanted to be associated with teens or twens ;-P
Said to be common when a male reaches 40. Sometimes it takes hold permanently ;-) as in the puthu maamanaar and the renewed bachelor.
Isn't Asin taller than most of these guys anyway? ilavasa inaippu - footstool.

as in the case of woody allen and a lot of our 'senior' heroes!

Surprising.. since it is hardly any issue about the role being miniscule.. Her role in Saamy was only marginally better than in Thirupachi and Ji. And, she is no Simran in acting.. so, she need not have rejected this offer.. Miniscule role means fewer dates on the call-sheet.. she would have rest of the days for doing meaty roles..

" she would have rest of the days for doing meaty roles.."

hope you were sarcastic in using the word 'meaty!'
has she done anything worthwhile in non-Tamil movies...then, i wun know...

Ram, you are right.. I consider her as a beautiful doll, having climbed to the top 3 list of tamil movies by virtue of the hits of hero-centric movies that she acted in the last couple of years, without displaying any talent so far. I havent seen her telugu blockbuster with Siddharth.. (man, dont ask me to type the name of the movie). Having now established herself, if she looks for roles in which she can improve her acting skills, I would certainly welcome her decision.. but is that what she gonna do?

How did she turn into such a hot demand?

Is it cuz of all those masala movies and those stupid dances? Gawd..

Trisha: The girl mints.. oh.. only around 70 to 80 lakhs a film in Telugu land... If anything, it should be a pleasure that Tamil actors are even still considering her as a potential heroine in their films.. The girl has tented herself in Hyderabad.. Aaah.. I don't think we're missing her right now anyway!.. Even though she is often part of Arasu Badhilgal in Kumudam, chellamaa referred to as Saamy Maami! :-)

Nayan: The girl needs to seriously lose a few pounds to look a little dainty next to the thin and happening Vikram.. I don't believe this hoopla over Vikram saying no to Nayan.. especially after the success of Chandramukhi being splashed across every website, newspaper or media around the world. Nayan's got it goin' on with Vallavan (Simbu), KaLavanin Kaadhali (S.J.Surya) and Ghajini (Surya).. This girl is hot and happenin'..

Asin: Now, here is the girl to reckon with.. She is being cast in every prominent project right now.. She's got the figure and the acting intact and I like her personality (anybody check out her presence in the Ungal Choice program on Sun TV a few months ago?).. She hasn't given up her education just for the movies.. You go girl!..

Vikram: you can't go wrong with Asin (or Nayan!).. But I would prefer to see Vikram with Asin.. considering the next time I will get to see her hopefully will be in Godfather with Ajeeth in July! (if they ever solve the financial issues with the film!)..

Until then....

gopi, wishful thinking. heroines' state is real tough as long as we have such a hero-centric industry. not sure if heroines can afford to wait around for 'good' roles which happen once in a blue moon.

ram, definitely prefer malayalam gals over the hindi gals we've been seeing in film after film. and as for nayan, just felt sorry for the unfair tag of "acted with senior actors". would've felt the same even if she'd acted with kamal and got the tag:)

trisha does look cute. and she's slim! but still haven't seen her really act and her dancing skills are pretty weak too.

nayan looks much better in person than in the 2 movies she's been in so far. i thot she looked ravishing in the CM audio function. much better than the homely look in both 'ayya' and 'CM'.

whether trisha, asin or nayan,it nice to atleast have so many choices in the south. for awhile, tamil cinema seemed pretty starved of good heroines with all the one-film wonders from the north.

--> i knew this was coming...
good that i wasnt in the bay area during the release of CM!!

As someone said, Asin's intvw in this week's Aanandha Vikatan says that she is in Majaa with Vikram. So she is in all of the big 4 movies -Sivakaasi, Gajini, Godfather, Majaa.

Someone here asked what her height is? 5'5". That's what she said when she was featured in Sun TV's 'Adyar Ananda Bhavan Snacks and Sweets Ungal Choice with 'Pepsi' Uma (avangalukku mattum innum Pepsi dhaan).

Did someone here say that Nayantara needs to reduce a little flab? Yes. me too think so. She looked very broad shouldered in many scenes in CM. And with those short sleeved blouses, she might even intimidate a few heroes like Simbhu and Dhanush with her arms :)

Did someone here say that her pairing with younger heroes would look odd now after Aiyya and CM? It just takes one hit movie to get over such illusions.

Oops..wasn't this post about Trisha? Did someone here say that she gets around 70-80 lagarams in Tollywood. She better stick to it and handpick only a few in Kollywood coz she looked like an actress who did 5 item numbers in Tirupaachi. Would be Asin's turn this time in Sivakaasi with the same director.

How did I miss this one? There was a rumour sometime back that Trisha refused to act with our very own Gabtun. That made him furious and he vowed that he will make sure that she won't get any big offers here in Kollywood. Is that also one of the reasons she shifted base to Hyderabad?

Trisha, yenga gabtun kooda nadikkara oru arputhamaana chance miss pannitiye? Saw Raajiyam last weekend in Sun with Gabtun singing 'Ore oru paarvaiyaale...' with Shamita Shetty (aamangoo..andha Shilpa Shetty thnagachi, Mohabattein heroine-ey dhaan). Trisha, tch!! miss pannitiye ammani!!!

have u seen the video of the song "nadhiyoram veesum thendral" from the film "alexander?" its a lovely song, theres no denying that...but captain looked like sangeetha's rendu-vitta chithappa...

Oh $hit, how did I miss this one too?

The story behind our Gabtun looking for Hindi heroines and Tollywood heroines these days is...
After Soundarya and whats-her-name heroine who commited suicide, nobody is ready to take chances with Gabtun. Trisha too, maybe. Poor Shamita Shetty doesn't have a clue about all these things. Came on flight from Mumbai and felt hounoured to act opposite Gabtun in her first Tamil movie.

btw, ithuvum naan kelvi patta rumour dhaan.

There are some talks about remaking Gladiator with Gabtun playing Russel Crowe. It is a universal trend, dudes.. Look at Salman Khan's new heroine, Sneha Ullal.. in Lucky.. Man, that kid is as dumb as one can get in acting.. All she has is a resemblance to Big A (Can we call Aish so?)

I dont think Vikram would be in his forties yet.. His first movie, "Thandhuvittenn Ennai" was in 1991.. Supposing he was 21-23 then, he must have been born in late 60's.. I think he would be max. 36-38 now.. Not so old, right?

At 8:59 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Y'know I just realized being in your forties isn't old either :) Anyway, it would be funny if Asin (who I remember claimed would act in only "meaty" roles) takes up a role that Trisha has refused to take on. 'cause if Asin does take it that would mean she considers it "meaty" enough and that Trisha really had a problem with dates. Right? Damn, now that is what I call a real random ramblin' :)

meaty roles?? i wonder how they define it...more than that, i'm sick and tired of every damn heroine saying the same damn things in their interviews:
1. there's a thin line between glamor and vulgarity...i'll never cross it.

gotta contact their English teachers...something's lost in translation!

2. if the character demands glamor, one should do it...

yeah rite...a docile iyer aathu ponnu character 'demands' rolling on the floor, drenched in the rain with 6-samy!

3. i want to do a character like sridevi madam did in moondram pirai...

oorla irukkara elaarum moondram pirai sridevi aaytta, apaala aambala pasanga elaarum "chinu, viji...viji, chinu viji"nu korangu kulla podavendiyathu thaan...

Ram.. hahaha.. one more question to the new heroines: What is ur ambition?

Answer: Rajini sir, Kamal sir, Vikram sir, Vijayakanth sir, Vijay sir, Ajith sir ivanga kooda ellaam serndhu nadikkanum..

Now, how about an actor's wish?

'Moondram Pirai'-le Kamal sir panna role madhiri pannanum (Courtesy: Arun Kumar in Kumudam Cinema)

Man, interview any dog and it would be thinking "Moondram pirai Subbuni madhiri pannanum" :-))

ram, so true the 1st 2 questions are uttered by every actress when she starts out.

gopi, unga innoru paer enna visuvaa? :)
