Kuruvi Posters

[Pics Courtesy Maverick]

Vijay fans finally get something solid about their hero's next film with the above 2 posters officially announcing Kuruvi's arrival in a couple of months. At the same time, I'm actually pretty surprised about the lack of information on Kuruvi. With the Gilli team of Vijay, Trisha, Dharani and Vidyasagar coming together, one would've thought that the movie would have a lot of hype associated with it. But I haven't seen a single photo from the film so far and there are rarely any rumors about the film's storyline or cast, which is usually a good measure of anticipation about a film. Even the film's website has a lone still of Vijay from Gilli and nothing else. I'm hoping the hype builds up once the audio releases and as the film's release nears.

With Kuruvi's posters having the vague tag of Chithirai Veliyeedu and Dasaavathaaram officially postponed to May or even June, it looks like this Tamil New Year's movie releases are going to be even more lackluster than last year's. We'll probably have to settle for Yaaradi Nee Mohini and Arai En 305il Kadavul.

Talking of storyline, when the movie was announced, the storyline mentioned was something like this:
"Vijay is one of those agents for shops of Burma bazaar, who smuggles goods from south east countries into india. He gets into some trouble in the business and how he solves it." They are probably deliberately underplaying this time as the much hyped Dharani's "Bhangaram" in telugu turned out to be a flop.
I wish one of the smaller budget movies that are going to come out in these next few weeks turn out to be a good quality, big hit. Once the biggies come, these would not get any breathing space.

Kuruvi is a tamil slang for a proxy person who smuggles goods to Singapore or Malaysia for the big shots. Vijay's role is the same in the movie.

The posters seem to tell that Vijay is out on a revenge mission.
I've also heard that there are some jail scenes in the film. The first poster looks like as if Vijay suffers terribly in the jail!Let's see how the film might be like.

Right now i'm amticipating the soundtrack, Dharani - vidvayasar combo has given terrific score in "dhool", "dhill" and "ghilli". i hope there are real cool massy songs. there has been a long time since i heard some great score from tamil films

and somehow a heroine will be 'forced' into story..
and trisha will have few scenes and songs..
i'm tired of masala movies of the same genre:action.

let us see if its smtg like dharani's earlier movies..
who wudnt like ghilli? i loved it..
dhill was terrific..and dhool was wow, except for the shakeela part..

bart, i understand the producers underplaying it but i was talking more about just general anticipation/talk, etc. that doesn't seem to be there yet :)

kp, yeah i think i've heard that too :)

ganesh, looks like it'll be quite violent. lets see :)

skanda, yes, i'm definitely looking fwd to the soundtrack based on their earlier collaborations :)

rathi, yep dharani's definitely created some high expectations with those 3 movies. could right be considered classics in the 'masala' genre :)
