As expected Koodal Nagar has got 2 star rating from you :)
The movie as you rightly put, is good in parts. It is realistic and not cliched. But it is too slow and does not have any major impact at the end of it all. Thats where the movie fails. It also reminded me of "Kaadhal" and "Pithamagan" (Mahadevan perhaps) for some reason. Songs were a low point and didn't fit in the scheme.
At the risk of sounding banal, I feel a Vadivelu track would've helped add more energy to this movie.. Or even more footage to Ilavarasu :)

bb, i watched maaya kannadi today...I liked the last 30 mins of the movie...but the first 2+ hours were a chore to endure...I think Cheran's biggest mistake came in the form of his casting choices. forget abt the ridiculous wigs and the gaudy costumes. to me, that was almost besides the point. to me, navya and cheran fitted just in the last part of the movie when they made the problems of their characters very believable. the tough choices that they had to make, their dilemmas and their frustrations were all brought out very well...but their "romance"...oh, my god...am gonna get nightmares of cheran konjifying navya calling her "chellam" and "da!" aiyyo!
i've always felt that cheran the director was assured, confident and had a unique voice...he's muffling his own voice by casting himself...

Balaji,
I was surprised to know that the hero in the film 'Murugaa' is my cousin, Ashok.I've met him when I came to Mumbai in 2003 to attend a cousins' marraige.
As for addl. info.:
He was a child artist who played the role of 'Sri Krishna'(The child part.) in a teleserial.(Forgot the name.)It was screened in DoorDarshan a decade ago, when DD was the only major Indian channel.
He's also appeared for some Parle-G biscuit ads.
By the way,he's the only filmi person who's a relative to our family of 'non-film buffs'.
Relation:
Ashok is my grandfather's younger brother's son, whose family is sttled in Mumbai.

Balaji,

This is off-topic. Check out this article http://newstodaynet.com/16feb/ss2.htm about the hero of the film "Kaanal Neer" J.K.Rithesh.

Unintentionally hilarious.

Thanks Anon for the info.

Barath with Oscar Director Perarasu

The career graph of the young actor Bharath is showing a steady rise and film after film, he has been honing his skills in acting. After Nepali his next project will be Pazhani which goes with the tag line ‘commercial panjamirdam’. This film will be directed by Perarasu who has worked and given hits with the young brigade of Kollywood like Ajith and Vijay.

Therefore it is expected that he will be repeating the same feat with Bharath too. Going by the tag line, the film is sure to have its commercial quotients well in place.

Pazhani will be produced by Shakthi Chidambaram under the banner Cinema paradise and Srikanth Deva will be scoring music for the film. The film will be formally launched in May and shooting will commence in June. Insiders reveal that Nadiya has been approached for a key role in the film.

Prin,I've just gave some info. regarding Ashok.I'm yet to see the film and I've no itntions of seeing it anytime.
In the reviiew of Murugaa,Balaji writes that
// He has done reasonably well for a first film though he hasn't offered anything special//
For this,I had to reply that he's already acted in some teleserials and for a couple of ads and not so new to acting.
If you find it boastful,I can't help it.
As for you, everyone in Wikipedia knows your trackrecord of using innumerable nicknames/sockpuppets to evade the block imposed on you on editing.
As for BBthotsians here, check Prin's nicknames here:

Hello bloggers,

I've been checking out this blog for a long time and I'm making my first comment! Yippee!!!

My husband, Maddy, and I are in Florida on vacation at the mo. Does anyone live close to Miami, if so we can pop around, considering we haven't eaten Indian in nearly a week :-|?

A couple of other things as well please :-):

*Ganeshkumar, yes I remember the child Krishna from DD TV, and oh yes......was he a fine child artiste........I envy you!

*Prinn, are you serious about Kamal Sir and Man Sir - great men the pair of them:-)

*I'm not sure, if I'll be able to write/post again in our Kilpauk home in Chennai as the internet is rather weak. So my wish is that evryone has a say about their favourite film of my other half's, Maddy.

Please respond, in order to the 1st question anyone please. :-)

Err, yes Sarita, I am distantly releated to Kamal - thid or fourth distant uncle or sumi' :-) But neva met him, neva will, saw him at a wedding in London though.

My fave Maddy film has to be.........Minnale, despite all the other quality films, Minnale established him I feel. It still remains close to my heart and keeps vivid memories.

The film where he is Ausralia as a chef also stars Kamal in a small role. Dunno the name.

Hey Mrs. Maddy,

I'm a big fan of maddy!
I didn't like his recent movie Thampi though, thought it didn't suit him.
My favorite Maddy movie ever is DUM DUM DUM... one of the best movies ever... I also love AP, Minnale and Run. Ethiri was also fun.
I'm hoping he'll come back with Arya and Leelai.
Thx for stopping by

bart, yes it didnt have an impact and that actually surprised me. if someone had just told me the story, i would've thot it would've been emotional. which is why i placed the blame on the poor direction...

srivatsan, no haven't seen it yet. hope to catch it soon...

pokiri, ok.

ram, yeah the lead pair was totally miscast. hope this jolts cheran out of his fascination for acting and makes him focus on direction for his next...

ganesh, thanx for all the info.
