Sivaji - New Stills

Inspite of all the hullabaloo about security and secrecy on the Sivaji sets, pictures are coming out pretty regularly. The latest set is from the shooting of a song sequence in Bilboa, Spain (all photos have been cropped). C0nsidering the number of photos we've seen, the unit might be better off releasing some official shots. These 'unofficial' photos are obviously not planned and so don't show Rajni and Shreya in the best light.

But that said, these photos are a huge improvement over the photo we saw last week. Thalaivar looks pretty cool in all the pics. I especially liked his looks in the 1st pic(in the orange suit) and the 3rd pic(where he's posing with the white guy).

Yeah, these pics are a touch better than the ones released earlier. Looks like a fun song with lotsa different makeovers for Rajini and Shriya. Maybe, something like what Vijay and Trisha did in 'Kannum Kannum dhaan...' from Thirupaachi.

Btw, did you check the video clippings of this song shoot that I sent you? Though the quality is not good, you could hear the song playing in the background and it sound like a foot tapping hip-hop number.

Barring the first 70s style pic, the rest of them makes one think that Rajni is spoofing 18 year olds and rock stars.

Shankar better have a good reason to make thalaivar look like this. In all honesty I hope they scrap this song or sequence or whatever from the movie.

I cannot understand the furore here. I am sure it would be a fun song with such makeovers. Thalaivar really doesn't look that bad in those pictures. If there is an element of fun, it is deliberate. After all, the different getups he did for another fun song '100 varusham...' in Panakkaaran wasn't bad either.
I also remember another song in Annamalai where thalaivar and Kushbu comes in some funny costume for a scene or two.

mav, true. unlike the earlier foto, these did give off the impression that there's gonna be an element of fun in this song. IMO, thats the only way a song with costumes like these would work :)

did see the clips. but they were pretty short and so didnt pay much attention to the bg. will see them again...

Balaji,
Except for the one with long hairdo, Thalaivar looks dashing in all the pictures. One thing is sure, though - Shankar is hell bent on showing Thalaivar like never before. But like you said, it is high time that they release some official pictures.

none of these are really nice...dunno, there is absolutely no class or style in any of the Shivaji pics that I've seen till now except one where Rajni was wearing a white t-shirt (if I remember that rite).
I've hardly been impressed with Shankar's song picturizations post Indian and Jeans...remember somebody mentioning Mani Ratnam...he is way ahead of any other Director when it comes to this...cant ever remember him "screwing up" a great song...Kadhal Rojave and Nee Oru Kaadhal Sangeetham top the list for me!

YIKES!!!! Balaji, how *did* u like these pictures???.... Superstar looks *very very* bad and Shreya looks plain cheap. What is up with Rajni's clothes???? His designer Manish Malhotra did wonder to actresses (Urmila in Rangeela, Sridevi, KArishma's revamped wardrobes) yada yada, failed miserably in designing for actors. Rajni looks like an outgrown joker who has entered intoa kids fancy dress competition. Tut tut....plain tacky. (And to top it, songs usually show actors in their best light in Shankar's films.. God help!)

Agree with Ram's comments on Maniratnam's song picturizations. He even made Mohan faintly droolable in Nilavae Va - Mouna Ragam :))

balaji wait for the movie to be released before giving your opinion. Are you going review every bit of information or every still available of the movie or anything related to the movie made available on the net?
Have patience

Karthik, I really don't understand why someone needs to wait till the release of a film in order to give his opinion. I agree that doing a critique of every single still may be a bit too much, Balaji! :-), but overall, Karthik, I don't see why someone cannot provide an opinion about what he/she has seen so far of the film. Actually, in one way, I think we are contributing to the hype ourselves by doing this. :-) ;-) (which in itself, is not necessarily a bad thing! :-)

That takes me to the videos at Yourtube.. think about this.. Shankar is known for keeping great security and secrecy during his film shoots. It's become more and more the case with every film. That being the case, do you really think he is going to let his guard down during a Spain shoot? I mean.. come on, we are in the era of internet videos, cell phone cameras and mini-camcorders, who are we fooling and of course, Shankar knows better than that!.. So, here's what I arrived at. Whoever captured those images was not sneaking a peek, it was more like he was allowed to take a few seconds of videos of the song shoot and put it up on the net.. It seems way too obvious that this was indeed done with Shankar's knowledge and not otherwise!..

After all, we are all buzzing about it here, aren't we?.. Isn't that what they want? :-)

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!..

kaps, yeah saw those too thanks to maverick. but too short and blurry :(

ram, i think u're talking about the poster released when the film was launched. that was from an official foto shoot. hence the class. these r unofficial photos and so gotta c them with that in mind :)

karthik, this was my opinion about the photos and not the movie. being a huge fan of rajni, this movie is without doubt the movie i am looking fwd to the most. so yes, i will be posting here any information on the movie i come across that excites me :)

sandya, actually received a few more stills and selected just these 4 :)
we'll never know if these received shankar's blessings or not. there's really no way to c if someone is talking on the phone or taking a video these days! so they might still be unofficial recordings :)
