Hollywood History
IMDb is celebrating its 15-year anniversary and has a special site up for the occasion. There's the usual 'Top Picks' (in the last 15 years) lists by the editors with an aggregated 'Top Staff Picks' list(on the left-hand side of the main page). That list surprisingly has Fight Club at the top and Schindler's List only at #11! A lot of fun reading and a number of interesting tidbits in their yearly history of films 1990-2005.

'Fight Club' is good, but #1? Hmmm... I think the trick ending increased its rating quite a bit, but 'Brazil' has a similar ending and was released 10-15 years before 'F C'. So I don't see what the big deal is.
I think these Top X lists can be debated forever. But there are a few movies I haven't seen. So, good list to refer.
Another example of subjectivity, perhaps :) I agree that in this instance, this rating has been "subject" to extremes.
i love IMDB's trivia section for films...it has some nice, sometimes outrageously funny, tidbits on movies...
Thanks for the link and info, will try to see some more good movies leftout!. I recently watched a movie "corrina corrina" I liked it, if you guys havn't try it.
prakash, yep. that was more the reason for the link. with the history over the years and the multiple top 15 lists, there r some nice entries for to-see lists there :)
i think 'fight club' has become sort of a cult classic. as time passes, more people attribute subtexts and inner meanings to the film and its keeps getting more popular.
and i understand subjectivity. but was surprised to find 'schindler's list' as #1 on so few lists thats all. i think it was #1 on just 1.
Thanks for the link Balaji!.
btw, i am linking your blog. hope its ok!.
off topic comment....today's is JO's birthday
kaps, comment post pannapram thaan i remembered it was already 18th there :)

A Michel.H has 2 Hindi movies in her top picks - Lagaan & Fiza.
But the one that made me faint off was finding 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham' at #3 in one of the lists :-)
ttg, thanx :)
mav, yep noticed that. and the same person who had K3G had 'devdas' too i think! yikes! and there were some strange choices like 'rush hour', 'shanghai noon', etc. even among hollywood flicks. goes to show how subjective tastes r :)
