Sun TV and Kushboo
Sandhya pointed out in an email that both of Sun TV's special movies for Vijayadhasami have a Kushboo connection. She acts in Minsara Kannaa while she is the producer(and her husband Sundar C., the director) of Giri.
Thinking back to Minsaara Kannaa, she plays a headstrong woman with misguided values(she hates men because of something that happened to her when she was young) who eventually has some sense knocked into her. Hmmm... Sun TV indulging in some subliminal messaging here?!!

my favorite spoof of SunTV was when a blogger (just cant recollect the name...damn my memory) wrote something like, "At this rate, Sun TV will announce, 'Vaikkunda Ekadesi-yai munnittu Thamizh Thiraiyil Mudhanmuraiyaaga 'Thulluvadho Ilamai!'" :)
My Mom actually took offense when they once announced, "vinaya chathurthiyai munnittu unnai kodu ennai tharuven" she was like, "what the hell does vinayakar have to do with ajth's love story!"
I agree with ram. SunTV and subliminal dont go in the same sentence. After they showed burning of Kushboo's posters, women with brooms shouting slogans etc. there is no need for any subliminal messaging. Sun TV is shameless DMK propaganda. Namma thalaiyezhuththu, if we thought we escaped Doordarshan with the advent of sat tv channels they turn out to be nothing better than party propaganda machines.
I wish we had more options than just Sun in US like Vijay, Raj etc. Who knows? I hope Vijaykanth doesnt link up with Vijay :)
ram, I wish someone comes out with a spoof of Sun TV news too. I watched it a couple of times and had a good laugh. Something along the lines of

Maybe that is SunTV's way of surreptitiously announcing to "the youth" that if they want to be successful in picking up chicks, they had better watch Ajith's movie instead of praying to Vinayakar who really doesn't have a stellar background when it comes to women...you get my drift, people?! Just kidding :)
Incidentally, did you chaps here that Simbu tried to rope in Sania Mirza to play one of his leading ladies in an upcoming production? Glad she refused :)
sun tv is not as clueless as i earlier thot though. recently kaps had a post on 'thamizh murasu', sun tv's new evening newspaper. and there were comments praising the newspaper from commenters whose IP led to sun tv's domain! and they did the same on another blog whose post criticized the newspaper. ofcourse they didn't block the ip but still... they scanned the blogs and found ones on thamizh murasu and commented...

vijay, i think channels in all countries have a bias. but the fact that its so blatant and biased is what makes it so irritating!
and their news is the tv equivalent of the 'manja pathirikkai'! the teaser is even more hilarious since they highlight the stuff with attention-grabbing headlines.
gopi, mandira bedi kedacha udane simbhu must've thot anyone he asks would say yes. i guess he just tries to get someone whos in the news. free publicity :)
ram, i think maalai murasu already existed. this one's the new evening paper. they had an ad blitz on tv with the 'nachunu iruku' teasers.
