Hello Balaji,

I am new to your blog and BB reviews. I enjoyed reading your reviews. I'm a bit surprised to no review for Mani Ratnam's Guru. I searched for the review in your blog and bbreviews but Couldn't find it.

looks like pandhayam is yet another crapodrama from SAC...ena aachu-nu therile...saar just oru 15 year-aa out of form! i.e. after he stopped making "sattam" oriented films...i used to enjoy his cinematic but hard hitting movies like sattam oru iruttarai, needhiku dhandanai and my favorite film of his, the rajni-bhagyaraj starrer, Naan Sigappu Manidhan...

bb, just a random thought...given the number of films that you would like to review (like iruvar; at least let me say, "the number of films that I would like for you to review!") maybe u could have a posting like this
http://www.hindu.com/cp/2008/10/10/stories/2008101050130400.htm
where u wont need too much time, like what it takes for a 5-para review...instead chumma 1-paragraph with what u liked (or hated!) abt the movie...just a thot...

it's funny you say that ram because i often disagree with balaji's views and his worldview is extremely different from mine but i respect and read his reviews because of the mix of neutral detail and personal views, and balaji's clarity on which is which, which allows a reader to get a sense of the movie and not just a sense of balaji's pet (dis)likes. so three cheers for 5 paragraph reviews! i hope that does not change!

(one para is for comments, bwahaha)

clarification, anon...i would be the last person to ask bb to veer away from 5-para reviews...i've been a bbreviews fan for 10 years now (way b4 bbthots was born!)...i was just referring to some movies like iruvar which have come up in our conversations abt which he could post capsule reviews on BBTHOTS (not referring to bbreviews in this context...adhu thanee range!)

anon, quite a few similarities to 'saroja' there :)

chetan, thanx! no, I haven't written about 'guru'. i missed it when it came out and haven't had a chance to catch it later :)

ram, yeah he had some interesting movies initially that had fun with the law and its loopholes. but hasn't given us anything watchable for a loooong time now :)

i do that for english and hindi movies sometimes but somehow, when i start writing about a tamil movie, i end up writing more :)

anon, wow u sound like the ideal bbreviews reader :)

Thanks BB. Can I request you to write a review for Guru. I like your reviews and since it is Mani Ratnam's movie, I would be very interested to see your analysis of Guru.

Thank you.

abishek bachan is puke inducing, and mani rathnam jumped the shark a few movies ago. bb should watch/review ilakkanam.

anon, 'guru' is turning out to be the most-asked for review on bbthots. will try to catch up on it one of these days :)

ram, that seemed to be the general view :)

anon, ilakkanam? is that a new movie? haven't heard of it :)

Kadhalil vizhundhen got 1/2 a star extra but yet to see "Raman thediya Seethai". BTW, you haven't seen "Poi solla porom"? Ppl say it is a tad better than the original "Khosla ka ghosla"
