Make-up

Recognize the actor(its the same actor portraying younger and old versions of the same Chinese man) in the above photos? Though Kamal went all the way to Hollywood to find a make-up man for Dasaavathaaram, he obviously didn't end up with the best in the business(probably - and understandably - due to budget constraints). Can't help wondering how those 10 characters, especially the foreign ones, would've looked if the man behind this actor's transformation had worked on Kamal...

Kamal seems to think Michael Westmore is god. Someone should help him get rid of that latex fixation.

There is a very prominent impression artist in the US that uses a combination of makeup, body language and voice modulation to bring alive different characters. He has made skillful impressions of GW Bush, Clinton and Arnold Schwarzenegger and you really have to look hard to convince yourself that these are not real.

His name is Steve Bridges and his website is http://www.stevebridges.com.

He has appeared as President Bush on the same stage as the Bush and parodying successfully. I am sure he does not even spend a fraction of what they spend for dasavathaaram, sivaji and a whole slew of "High Budget" trash that Shankar makes. The problem is, in the quest for grandeur, our film makers lose sight of a cohesive script and importantly a Story(as in the case of Sivaji). The focus seems to then be solely on just the empty shell - Songs, Cinematography, sets etc.

It's Eddie Murphy in that horrible NORBIT!

You folks don't worry about DASAVATHARAM! It's ruling the BO and that's EXACTLY what Kamal wanted. It's just that some of you - being Rajni fans - the "despise" is understandable!

Again as I said earlier, Kamal-ji don't have to waste his energy in Hey!Ram, Anbe Sivam, Mahanadhi etc., for you guys to appreciate it after 10-15 years! He should just stick to masala film for general public -who is better than these double-standard educated hypocrites!

Dasa rules! Read the papers?!!!! Check them out!
If Hindi version comes, it would make even more money!

apala, so much feelings :) Relax

BO success and failures are quite normal. If the movie runs it's good for everybody. Kamal himself might be used to it these days :)

As some one told Oscar Ravi will not face same situation as Dhanu (Aalavandhan). There is no other movie (atleast in Tamil) unless Baradhiraja comes up with super dooper bommalaatam :)

Sreela, arun, kumar, apala got it right. that's eddie murphy in 'norbit'. he's had some amazing disguises right from 'coming to america' days :)

Balaji, I am not sure if you noticed this

I am surprised. I thought that in Kuselan, which is relatively smaller scale compared to Sivaji with less money being invested in makeups and such, and with P.Vasu being at the helm rather than Shankar, Rajni will probably look even older than he did in Sivaji. But he looks even younger in these stills. Just thought that you being a big fan you might be pleased to see these stills :-) Reminds of you of the Mannan days.

Tats Eddie Murphy????Totally unreconizable, i thought it was Tommy Lee Jones grown old...Damm good makeup....If "Dasa" had a bigger budget, Kamal could have afforded this make upman..

you have answered the question...budget constraints. 100 crores is a lot for India, not for some international films
