As Jo is every woman's envy (after all, pidichaalum pidichcha, the #1 tamil cinema bachelor-a dhaane pidichirukkaa!).. so is Surya being every man's envy ('Jo'lly! :-)..
wikipedia says sivakumar is a brahmin..is it right? i always thought sivakumar is a chettiar...i have a high regard on sivakumar. he is a gentleman.

As far as I know, Sivakumar is Kounder. But I don't see how that matters in the Cine industry. But Nagma issue will definitely be a concern.

Insider news..One of my friends friend is a close pal of Surya. Apparently, he is completely serious about Jo and is infact is more serious about making the relationship legal pretty soon between the 2! He calls her at every break he gets between shots/ anything else he works on. They just want thigs to get sorted the correct way and oflate sivakumar is softening a bit it seems. ...which means Wedding bells very soon :) they are cho chweet..rightly said balaji.

Well, Anon, so that you will get to sleep well tonight.. here goes..
Nagma is said to have links with Abu Salem (phone calls, letters etc. etc.). Don't know how far this has gone now, considering Abu Salem is now in police custody and we don't know (or maybe I missed it!) if he has explicitly declared that he had links with Nagma and Nagma may have ordered some "chops and splits" according to Salem's wishes.. It may have very well been months or years since Jo got on the phone or saw Nag in person.. Obviously, Jo wouldn't be caught dead doing something like that, considering she has both her career and her future with Surya at stake here.
So, by chance, if you are wondering how Nag affects Jo.. well, from Sivakumar's point of view, it wouldn't take Nag very much more than pointing a finger in her sister's direction (just for the heck of it!) and make unnecessary trouble for Jo for the rest of her life!.. No potential father-in-law (that I know of!) tolerates that kind of risk or humialition from the potential DIL or her immediate family! :-) :-O
So, there.. you know all about the Nag issue now! :-)..

No Balaji.. I don't think that Su and Jo will tie the knot this year.. mostly because of both Su & Jo's film committments.. I don't think, Jo in particular, can flake on her work and will have to make sure that she finishes all her work before settling down. I would prefer if Jo gets married and breaks all stereotypes by continuing to act (even though I doubt that Sivakumar and family will like that too much!)....
I do think Miss. Jo will stay that way, until she is totally ready to become Mr. Jyothika Saravanan.. after all, not everyone is ready to become a Mrs. at the drop of a hat, by jumping over a wall and running into a temple and getting married like Devayani! :-) ;-).. or even a short and sweet courtship and fast and furious run to the aisle like Mrs. Shalini Ajeeth! :-) :->>..

sandya, the whole abu salem thing is news to me!! when they said nagma issue i was thinking the whole affair with sarathkumar or the news where she rushed off to bombay cos some minister(or his son) had his eyes on her... those were her too right? anyway, thats a woman with a lot of issues!!
Kisu kisu from my sister's pal, who's in the "film line". Surya and Jo are currently building a posh place for themselves. Both of them taking a lot of interest to build it just the way they want it. Should be ready by end of year! She even mentioned the location, but can't remember it.
Disclaimer: This same pal keeps coming out with hot gossip, some of which sounds totally out there. So take with a pinch of salt.

I think the inevitable has long been recognized by Sivakumar. He was just waiting for daughter's marriage to end. On the other hand, he probably is very apprehensive. Any father would be, but Surya seems as reserved and principled as his father, so no doubt about the marriage happenning sometime this year, as he has been stating.
Anyhow, their personal live is their own. BUT PLS, someone tell them to stop acting together just for the sake of being together. It's crazy! Eight films together? This is not the 60s/70s. There are so many jodis that can be matched with the two, onscreen at least, so please, even if you do look great together onscreen(Kakka Kakka), give the audience a long break.

The other Surya-Jo movies I'm aware of are: Uyirile Kalandhadhu, June R (Surya in a cameo) and the in-the-making Jillendru oru kaadhal. That makes it 7 movies including Narm's list. What's the 8th?
anon, there's something nice about seeing a pair with great chemistry in a movie. so i for one am not yet bored of seeing surya-jo onscreen :)
darn! anon beat me to it. those the 3 movies i could remember too. but if we're talking of movies being made/planned, there's an RGV movie(remake of telugu 'shock') to be produced by jo and supposed to be starring them too...
maybe we should count Perazhagan twice to get the 8th :)
Balaji I've been reading your reviews for quite some time, way back in the days of minnoviyam. (I'm pretty sure that's where I first started reading your reviews) Great job!
Anyways, its really quite amusing to see how much you've softened up to Jo, if I remember correctly, you thought she was irritating in the beggining.
sivajini, very true :) i hated her dancing in 'poovellaam kaettuppaar' and predicted a quick end to her career after her irritating overacting in 'kushi'. but 'dumm dumm dumm' made me change my opinion, '12b' made me a fan and since then, i've become a bigger fan with each movie i think :)
