Favorite Rajni Film Scenes - III

"The Warning" - Maappillai

Maappillai had a few firsts for Rajni - he spoke long lines for the first time, had his first dance sequence with fast steps(Unai thaan...) and appeared in a different getup(for the opening sequence) after a long break. Rajni, the mappillai, and Srividya, the mamiyar, have several confrontations in this box-office hit but the movie saves the best for last.

With no one but her money-hungry relatives around Srividya, Rajni warns her about the pitfalls ahead. But Srividya still harps on money and answers all Rajni's questions (about the things she can buy) with a "Vaanguven" until Rajni stumps her with a zinger on whether she can buy manjal-kungumam with money. And the following final line of the meeting is destined to make any Rajni fan go delirious

Srividya: Maappillai, naan thamizh naattukke Rani madhiri.

Rajni: Athai, neenga thamizh naattukke Rani madhiri. Naan thamizh naattukke...*wearing glasses after twirling them*... adha en vaayalaye solluvaanen!

ram, adhe padam thaan. chiru acted in the telugu original. but this scene occurs near the end. the scene b4 the intermission is good too and has a similar open-ended line. just not as good as this one :)

cipher, yep. that last comment is truly awesome...

mappillai is one of my favourite rajini movies. srividya-rajini clashes are really a treat to watch. to add beauty, super figure Amala is also there :)

guesses for scene 2 and 1. Is Annamalai's elevator scene number 1? and something from Basha/Mannan (I thought of 'number 2' and 'number 1' scene).

Balaji..eventhough everyone get excited on seeing Mappillai on the list..I am not happy...
bcos Moondru Mugam was not there..Did you like Mappillai more than Moondru mugam..
The verbal dispute between thalaivar and Senthamarai is a catchy one..
Hope u have listed out these from thalaivar's last 50 movies or you forgot abt this?
For a die-hard rajini, everyscene is fine..
When listing it, MM should be there..that's my wish..

karthik, c my comment to ferrari in favorite #1. its been so long since i've seen MM that i don't remember all the details about the scenes. so rather than write in brief, i chose to select scenes which i've seen several times and which r imprinted deep in my memory. avlo thaan :)

dshiv, chk out the post titled 'a time for heroes'. amala came with nagarjun to that one and looked as lovely as ever. my exact words were "she could still give today's heroines a run for their money" :)
