Singamondru Purappattadhe...

I've never had much luck photographing animals. I've been to the both the San Francisco Zoo and the Oakland Zoo a few times but the animals seem to take my arrival as a sign to go off to the farthest corner of the cage/grassland and fall asleep. So I have to squint my eyes to see the animals or worse, have someone point them out to me (believe me, it is so embarassing when your 3 year-old exasperatedly says loudly "See there Appa, that's the lion!"). Still, I have tried to take a few shots but they ended up looking like entries in the "See if you can spot the animal" contests.

Yesterday my wife and my daughter went to the Oakland zoo with another couple for whom it was the first trip to the zoo. And Bam! The guy ends up getting some great shots of the animals. With great jealousy, here are a few shots of the lion(the animal I've had the most difficulty getting impressive shots of) from their photos. Its almost looks like it was posing for him!

As for me, I'm sticking to flowers. Atleast they can't run away from me!!

Wow those are indeed great pix!

I've been meaning to go to the zoo for a long long time, but nothing's happening =(.

I doubt I'll go anytime soon, I mean when I lived in Beaverton for 2 years, and the zoo is smack dab in the middle, like 15 min train ride and I pass it everyday when I go to uni, if I didnt go check it out then, then whats the odds of me checking it out now?

lol :) I havent really gone over there since I've gotten my cam. *sobs*

The first pic. looks like it is asking your daughter/wife 'Enna Appa/veetukaaru varalaiya?'

The last pic: 'Seri, seri. Adhuthadadava varachollu pose kudukkaren!'

Sorry, Balaji. Unga blog vandha dialog-a varudhu!!

sk, don't have to rub it in!

merino, havent been to the zoo? thot that was where u got that cute monkey pic from??

me too, endha situationleyum oru script ezhudhudivinga pola iruke!

ferrari, LOL. indha idea enaku thonama poche. now i know how the 3rd pic came about :)

aatma, i like oakland zoo better. its not as big as SFO zoo and so is easier to cover fully. too much walking in SFO zoo and kids get tired. also oakland zoo has the small playarea outside with a bunch of rides. so its a nice way to relax after coming out of the zoo.

sundar, i share your pain :( i've never got a pic of the lions either.
i think those comments r from people who get here via the 'next blog' link on the top. not sure if that can be disabled...

nithya, yep. no wonder they call it the 'king of the jungle'.

kals, will convey compliment from my friend. and yeah, the lion probably was hungry.
