KaJol(lu)

[Pic Courtesy RmKV]

Is it just me or is Jyothika becoming more beautiful with each passing day?! She looked fabulous at the 2004 South Filmfare awards show. And she looks positively ravishing in the Sun TV ad for the new 50,000 color saree from RmKV. Her expressive face is very well exploited in the ad as she is bombarded with several choices for the color of her saree. And her expression when she asks "Aanaa Maaplai?" at the end is just so cute.

Talking of the saree itself, it looks like its a world record. The saree does look very grand and eye-catching but at Rs. 50,000, will anyone other than Jo be able to afford it?! But for those that can afford it, Prabhu has listed some of the practical problems.

We bought dresses for our entire family at RmKV for my brother's wedding on my last trip. It was there that I really understood the meaning of the word rajamariyaadhai since the owner's son was my brother's friend :-) But jokes apart, it was a great shop with lots of selections and good customer service.

------------------------
Kajol could probably be called my Bollywood Jo. I've never been a big fan of Hindi heroines but she was the exception and was the only heroine who could make me sit through a chick flick like Pyaar Tho Hona Hi Thaa.

My favorite Kajol movie was definitely Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. She was great as the tomboyish girl. She truly broke my heart in the college music festival song where she shows just the tiniest bit of sadness when Shah Rukh Khan hugs Rani, before smiling it off. IMO, she was the best part of Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham too. After a baby and a long break, it looks like she will be back on screen with Aamir Khan soon.

Aug 5 was her birthday and Rediff has a 'Know your Kajol' quiz to mark the day. Needless to say, I got all 6 questions right :-)

RmKV is good in branding...be it the kaaviya pattu sarees or the cinderella pattu pavaadais....they have been doing a good job of creating hype around the product.

Jo looks good in sarees....remember the Azhagooril song in Tirumalai and Aasai Aasai song in Dhool?

I don't know about Jyotiks... but when you talk about Kajol, how come there's no mention of DDLJ?? :)

'jo'lu apart, kajol's eyes spake thousand words in the scene where her eye meets prabhu deva's in the vennilave song...

and to reciprocate, prabhu deva's dhaadhi/body spoke thousand words too :P

RmKV was one of my haunts during my last trip. I think I must have spent a half-year's salary there ;-). I ordered the cinderalla pavadais for my kiddos. Havent seen them yet Mom said they look good. They do custom stone work on pattu sarees and they offered to do mine, but I was not too impressed. I still like Chennai Silks slightly better, price-wise.
I don't believe in spending so much on just 1 saree.

Vayasaaga aaga, kannu weak aagum ;-)

Kajol is one of my favorites too.

PS Happy friendship day, Bals!

BB, glad to see that you are well and truly ensconced in the Jo Fan Club...(I think it was with Dum Dum Dum that you stopped your Jo-bashing and joined the rest of the world...of JOlling mortals!)

yep, she looks great in that ad...I think Jo mugathula Kalyana Kalai kattidichu...yaar maaplai-nu kaekkaraaley...cha, manathukku sevi irundhaal nandraaga irukkumey!!!!

After Chandramukhi, Jo kinda dethroned Sneha as my fav S. Indian heroine...also in no small part due to Sneha's recent movies...dont even get me started on those...

and, abt Kajol...yep, she's my fav Bollywood heroine 2...did you watch the Shahrukh-Kajol episode of "Koffee With Karan?" Man, this Shahrukh...biladi bugger...casually kisses her on her cheeks...okay okay, friendly thaan...but enakku stomach-burning nevertheless!! Shahrukh-a nenachey ipdi-naa Devgan-a nenachaa....!! :(

Wherever she is, let her live long
She live long with yellow kumkum
Her heart live long in lots of peace...
(for those who just lost confidence in my English, please translate the song into Tamil and you will understand!!)

nithya, did u notice they have this book for shoppers to leave comments on their shopping experience. it was mostly positive :)

prasanna, don't u think its the people who buy the saree who should be doing that kind of charity since it proves they have that kinda money?

kaps, u said it! they have awesome marketing and branding and are great at creating hype...
and full 'kaakka kaakka' sollama vitutengale!!

missy, for some reason DDLJ reminds me of SRK and not kajol. he was the more interesting character in that. i feel KKHH was completely kajol's and both SRK and rani took backseat to her...

arvind, i know 'vennilave' has lotsa fans. but i actually liked her more in the 'maana madhurai' song...

happy friendship day to u 2 :)

vj, thanx for joining the club :) looks like we share a few tastes :)

rajesh, news padichappuram therinjudhu. having been to hiroshima, reading about it always pains me. but andha madhiri senti stuff ezhudha vendaamnu thaan vituten :)

ram, i know i liked her in DDD but truly became a fan only after 12-B i think...

I hated Jo till 'Dum Dum Dum', been indifferent since. Think she has aged well (didn't look too old paired with Simbu), but still can't act or dance to save her life. Saw 'Chandramukhi' a few days back, couldn't help wondering how Simran would've done!

Kajol on the other hand ... now you are talking. Something special in that lady. Got hooked when I saw 'Baazigar'.

When my nephew was 3,4, he was a big Kajol fan too. And I used to kid him that she was going to marry him. When I did get finally engaged (no, not to Kajol!), and when he was introduced to my fiancee, he said "No, Prakash is going to marry Kajol". My father-in-law isn't a film buff, and was taken aback :-)

How about that reunion scene in Kuch Kuch, when Shahrukh and Kajol run into each other after years? Love that scene.

Oops, above post should read "used to kid him that she was going to marry ME".
