Yep. Shruti has Amazing Voice (Ram Ram - HeyRam, Adiye Kolluthey) she will sure go places. I wish Soundarya produces nice offbeat Films for Ocher unlike other Pathetic corporates like Saimaira, Ayngaran etc.

I was very impressed with an interview that Shruti Haasan gave on Kalaignar TV...its on youtube. she sounded very sincere and down-to-earth (she definitely didnt get this trait from Kamal!). I wonder how ardent Kamal fans like me will react when they watch Shruti Haasan's acting debut when it happens...every move and every nuance I think will be scrutinized and comparisons to the God of Acting will be inevitable. lets see how she fares in that...

reg. soundarya, i dont care! adha pathi neenge - rajni fan- pesikonge!

Ram,

I've watched interviews of both Shruti and Soundarya. As you said both of them didn't get the traits from their respective dads

shruti - sincere and down-to-earth
soundarya - put on act

I've heard that Soundarya only speaks in English with a distinct Kiwi accent and Latha usually transalates for her. I've heard nothing but good things about Shruthi.. Anyway, let's see how Ochre fares. I hope both make a difference in the industry...

Kay,
Soundarya can speak very good Tamil. She gave a very good interview in the Making of Sivaji episodes that were telecast in TV right after the movie's release. I still vividly remember the way she described how the teakadai scene was her most favorite scene of the movie!!

Ram,
If there is one thing Soundarya has imbibed from Thalaivar, it is simplicity. At more than 1 function, I have only seen her sport a simple chain with a single uthraatcha kottai in it (though you can't see what she's wearing here in this pic)

filbert,

wearing a simple chain doesn't mean she's a simple person. they way she speaks doesn't show she's simple. she mainly uses english in tamil interviews. atleast her sister speaks in tamil in tamil interviews.

I know someone was gonna pick on my comment by saying that wearing a simple chain does not make her a simple person :) Should have included that disclaimer in my comment!!

What did these two achieve yet to even qualify for these awards? Famous fathers? LOL. Neither one has done anything much to speak of. This is like giving Vijay a doctorate. Pothu vazhkai-yila ithellaam sagajampa...:-)

Upper Chennai society people are only like that:-) So no need to speak of superflous behavior. Ponnunga rendum kaiyya suttukaama iruthu sari...

anon, soundarya does have some interesting films lined up. lets see :)

ram/anon/kay/filbert, i haven't heard either of them talk. so i'll reserve my opinion :)

kajan, i think one of the two said exactly the same thing("i haven't done anything to deserve this award"). atleast she's honest :)

suja, so she speaks in english! so what! now that makes her not a simple person!! my god, what's up with tamilians and their fascisms!

anon,

chill. i just gave one of my points of why i think she doesn't sound simple. i felt it was not right to speak in english in a tamil interview unless the person doesn't know tamil. other points besides the language is, her body language, which doesn't show she's simple. i would say her sis aishwarya is.

@Suja:
In Film industry nobody is really simple.
Some people are honest about their non-simplicity (Kamal, SRK), Some people pretend to be Simple (Rajni, Vijay, Dhanush) and some are caught in-between (Trisha, Soundarya RK). At the end of the day what matters is How they Entertain us in Films.

I have personally spoken to soundarya a couple of times and i think she is the most "BANDHA" pervazhi ever...she has an attitude which is as big as the himalayas. She has ocher studios because she is rajni's daughter, thats all! ella peter dhaan...thamizh nalla theriyum...chumma english dhaan paechu...extremely irritating. I also viewed the "making of shivaji" where aish and soun spoke...she was equally irritating there too.

Shruthi, on the other hand, wa sso down to earth and sounded extrmely sincere in her interviews. sh eis the one who said " naan enna acheive pannaen"?

Forget knowing anybody in person, you can tell about them just by comparing their respective interviews on TV.

So, my conclusion at this point -
Rajni - simplicity; soundarya - bandha
Kamal - bhandha; shruthi - simplicity

ARDENT RAJNI FAN.

People,

I was not commenting on anyone's simplicity or lack therof. I know so many people who are simple and speak English. I saw Surya at VA premiere in the Bay Area. He was so down to earth and dressed very simply. Spoke 80% in English. But made sense coming out of his month. Words were very natural. It did not seem forced. BTW, I really dont know if Soundarya is simple or not. I just saw an interview where she spoke in English with a kiwi accent and Latha transalated for her. Make what you will of that..

I must say I enjoy these discussions! BB, thanks for facilitating... :-)

Anon, I have not heard anything from these two girls but Kamal--bhandha, I don't think so. Yeah, Rajini is down to earth and simple but Kamal is equally simple. He is just outspoken that's all. I am sure Ram, one of the regulars here can attest to that because he spoke to the man personally. And there is no reason for Kamal to spend that much time with Ram.

I certainly am a Kamal fan but I like Rajini as well but I wouldn't call either of them as bhandha.

Hi Balaji Sivaraman,

I agree with you, Kamal is not bandha, he is outspoken. Bandha is those who don't have matter but flaunt.

I've watched both their interviews. Shruti comes across as an honest, intelligent person who has her head on her shoulders - she seems talented too. Soundarya did come across as being pretentious - this has nothing to do with the language she chose to speak in or the accent.

Going by the comments about Soundarya, it would interesting if she marries Simbhu.
Simbhu & Dhanush battle will take new levels with Soundarya producting an Animation movie "Kurangu Kaiyil Malai" Starring Simbhu and Aishwarya giving free tickets for a Dhanush movie to Ashram students.
Rajni will then quit films and permanently settle in Himalayas!

What do you guys think about kamal hassan's recent films ? I think he is on an endless ego tour carrying excess baggage

Sri,
You are right about Kamal but he is no exception. Rajni too is on a Endless Ego Trip waxing his Political Ambitions in his Films.
Now Ilaya Thalapathy has joined the CM Fray by observing a 8 hour Fast for Lankan Tamils after a Very Very heavy Breakfast.
Even Vishal has a Big Ego. He wants to be Indian Will Smith.
Forget these people, Haven't you Watched Vijayakanth's New Trailer Engal Arasan? He wants to be the God for the Poor!
