Tamil Cinema Music in 2005: A 2-CD Compilation
I know 10 is number of choice for year-end lists. While it works fine for films, it seems a bit too restrictive when it comes to picking songs, considering the large selection to choose from. So I expanded the list just a little bit. Here are 32 songs for a 2-CD collection of the best of Tamil cinema music in 2005.

It's different and nice to see a list of top songs 2005, without a single vijay song. Even in my list (neway i extracted that from Sify) had Vijay songs. His songs are catchy to hear once but not contnuously. Hope atleast your 2006 list have vijay songs.
But I wondered that 'Oru Varthaai' from Aiyaa is missing. It's loveable melody from Bharadwaj and most likely in the first quarter of the year.
And Devi Sriprasad's Mazhai is also missing.
In A Aa, Thazhuvuthu Nazhuvuthu from SPB is good with some good percussion.

Wow.. a cool CD set.. How come ur favorite's 'Devuda Devuda' is not there...?
I notice all songs of Raam.. That is one CD where I wouldnt press forward button either.. The only songs I would have added would be 'konjam konjam' and 'en kannodu' from AA.

BB: Good list, though I was surprised when I did not see Raam in CD1. Then I realised the movies were in alphabetical order :)
Btw, I am not sure Ullam Ketkume was from last year. Ya, the movie released last year, but the soundtrack came out way before, sometime in June '04 i think. And absence of Devuda :(
Tamilponnu: Raam was one of the best and perhaps the earliest gem of a sound track from last year.

Looks like your list only includes songs from movies that were released in 2005. If albums that were released in 2005 were counted too, then you probably would have to compile another CD :) There are enough good numbers in Pudhupettai, Kalvanin Kadhali, Agaram, Idhaya Thirudan & Aadhi to make up another CD.
One song that I would definitely add to this list is 'Dhavani potta deepavali' from Sandaikozhi (and from your review of the movie, looks like you like it too)
karthik, i based the list on songs I've listened to several times. For some reason, I failed to download some of the soundtracks during the year and both 'Ayya' and 'Mazhai' fall in that category. So I've listened to them only when seeing the movie or songs on TV. Wasn't too impressed with 'oru vaarthai' but u're right about 'mazhai'. 'nee varumbodhu' and 'muthu mazhaiye' would've probably found a place on the runner-up CD :)

raju, it was a tussle betn 'annanoda paattu' and 'devuda devuda' and the former won in the end since i felt it had more energy. but it certainly was a tough decision :)
and 'konjam konjam' did make it to the runner-up CD :)

anti, yep. i just picked the songs as i went down my ipod playlist. so ended up as alphabetical. moved a couple of movies around thats all...
yeah UK soundtrack did release way back. i kinda made this list with songs from movies released this yr. didnt consider the album release date :)
filbert, yes. though i considered audio only, its inarguable that picturization affects how much we like the song itself. so i picked songs from released movies so that i've seen them on screen too :)

The oru varthai song - well u dont like it in the beginning I didnt either. But it just gets stuck to your head and keeps running in your head the entire day.. so u end up finally liking it :)
I didnt c Kadhal yanai song from anniyan either..
