4 New Reviews

Reviews for Majaa, Sivakasi, Mazhai and Kicha Vayasu 16 are now online at bbreviews.

PS: IT, which had initially warned that my hard drive was irreparably damaged, successfully brought my laptop back to life this week. So my reviews, templates, etc. are now back in my possession(and backed up!). Thanks to Saravan and the Talkative Man for their suggestions.

Hello balaji,

I read all your reviews from www.thenisai.com and I really love it.The reviews seem to be a fair assesment of the quality of the movie.

I have a small request for you, could you please review a movie called 'Manasukkul Mathappu' starring prabhu and saranya in the lead.I feel that it was one of the finest tamil movies and one of the best performances be prabhu.I dont find a review on that movie anywhere.I see that you have been reviewing lots of old movies too,so hence the request.

I dont know whether you would even read this mail or not but just wanted to make this request as I feel that was a great movie which lacks recognition.

Thanks,

giri, isnt manasukkull mathaapu a rip-off of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest?"
remember admiring Prabhu's performance though..."ponmaanguyil singaaramaay pannpaaduthey"- that song is from this movie, is it not?

giri, thx for the compliment.
i saw MM a long time ago and remember liking it @ that time. since starting that blog, i havent had the time to see/review older movies as much as i'd like. but if i find a dvd of MM, i'd try to c it & write about it since i wouldn't mind seeing it again :)

ram, technically, MM is a remake of mohanlal's 'thalavottom', which was a rip-off of 'one flew...' :)

i know the movie had a couple of good songs. not sure if 'ponmaanguyil' is from that though.

And the recently released Priyadarsha directed Salman starrer 'Kyon Ki...' a rehash of MM.

Thanks Balaji.I saw Kyon Ki recently and felt that priyadarshan has not done full justice to the tamil or for that matter the original in malayalam(eventhough I havent seen it).Salman's performance was pathetic when compared to Prabhu's performance in MM(I cant comment on mohanlal as I havent seen the original). The end seemed to raise no sympathy for salman's character, like it did when I watched the tamil version.

Anyways thanks for your effort on te same and I hope that you get the DVD :).

majaa review was ignorant and uninformed. all that needs to be said is vikram has a moutstache, wears a lungi and doesn't make canine noises, hot damn all is right with the world.

just jokes. i really appreciate the number, length and enthu of your reviews, even though my politics are quite different from yours... not to mention aesthetics!
